Captain America: Brave New World rate & review

I must have lost it , because I enjoyed it quite a bit. 7 out of 10 for me. Some of the reactions are way over the top. It’s not a bad movie. Far from it!

It was alright. 6/10 maybe. Though you can just feel the production problems in the dialogue and how a lot of scenes are framed. It's several different scripts in a trenchcoat. The post-credit scene got some very sarcastic and groaning noises. Lady in my row said: "Well, that was old news."

Guess they couldn't get Liv Tyler and Harrison Ford on set together. Let's just shoot her scenes through the bars. It won't look weird at all. Falcon probably wasn't available for most of the reshoots. The Serpent Society stuff was incredibly tacked on. The heroes are also lucky that the off-screen device that turns mobile phones into mindcontrolling devices can be hacked into as easy as the white house CCTV.

Ford was awesome, Tim Blake Nelson was alright, but the movie didn't do enough for our new Cap. All the other characters are in and out of the movie too much.

I was expecting it to be disappointing but I really enjoyed the movie! It was fun and the action scenes were great. I really want a Hulk movie with Rulk and She-hulk teaming with Hulk to take down gamma baddies created by Leader!!! Movie was a solid 8/10 for me… Although I also really liked Quantumania so my opinion is probably invalid.

On the red carpet, she mentioned working with Harrison Ford, Anthony Mackie, and Tim Blake Nelson, so maybe once upon a time she had an actual role in the film.

Saw it last night & it was totally fine. The flaws that have been mentioned are all there, but IMO doesn't deserve the level of hate it's been getting.

Sam may not be Steve, but I like his Cap. Can't imagine a better replacement within the MCU.

Looking forward to it's streaming release so I can play my new favorite drinking game: Two dudes go into a room to talk  ... which is nearly 40% of the movie. I found it kinda hilarious, rather than an eye roll, when it happened.

I just got back from seeing it. I liked it a lot. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. It had good fights and action from the beginning. The Red Hulk scenes were fun and well done. Mackie and Ford were great, Carl Lumbly did some excellent scenes, Tim Blake Nelson was more subdued than he was in TIH, Giancarlo Esposito was great as usual, Ramirez was OK (I have trouble liking people who never shut up), and Shira Haas' part should have been played by almost anyone else. It was good to see Liv Tyler even if for only a nano second because it opens up the possibility she could come back later.

I'll be seeing it again next weekend with my wife. For my Valentine's gift, she bought tickets for us next weekend at Movie Tavern (she hates going on opening week) and she bought it through FANDANGO. Through that we also got a poster and a coin (half dollar size) with Cap's shield on one side and the white house on the other. Those came this morning right before I left to see it.

Niv Sultan from Tehran would have been a good alternate for Ruth

Guess that was cut in the reshoots then, yeah. :(

Liked it a lot, great action, love the shield action along with aerial, flying and rebird.

Only complain was how Sam was the one that tamed him. It should have been Betty, it was set up that way and would have made a bigger emotional impact. Could have mentioned the Skrulls stuff from Secret Invasion or the former president, even if the show received negative feedback.

I don't get the complaints about Celestial Island, didn't people see a Celestial head pop in the sky?

It's a shame how lame Black Widow and the Leader were, because despite some of the movie's obvious b-level reshoot quality, I really vibed with the core of the film, between Ross, Sam, the tone, and the action. Like, I thought it kinda slapped.

As a lead, I think I like Sam more than Steve, who's kinda...goofy for my tastes, and I dug his story, just a worthy dude who just learned to believe in himself to fill the biggest shoes in the world, and I can't wait to see him leading the Avengers (hopefully in that majestic white costume again). Having Sam be a regular dude, almost takes the notion of Cap being the Avengers' leader despite being the weakest of the bunch to its logical conclusion, and thus having him go toe to toe with a Hulk was a perfect conflict for that, and more satisfying than watching Hulk vs Tony and his endless bag of tricks.

And the winged suit action is just endlessly awesome. Like when Sam and Joaquin take off together, it's like....yeah, this is way better than a Cap who doesn't fly. Speaking of Joaquin, while some have pointed out how he's lacking charisma, to me it feels refreshingly un-Hollywood. Him and Sam both -- no dramatic backstories, just the vibe of being regular people.

But yeah, with those huge flaws I don't think I'll ever subject myself to a rewatch. Or at least I'll have to keep a finger on the skip 10s button.

Eh, It's basically a B- , straight to streaming, type of movie .

Not offensively bad, but not all that memorable for me.

As a person whose first exposure to Harrison Ford as a child , was as Han Solo and Indiana Jones, I could never hate the guy, even when he plays a character the audience isn't supposed to like.

I'm always gonna have a soft spot and positive feelings every time I see him.

If you watched Cap 4, and were maybe disappointed, I highly recommend an 80s Gem starring Harrison Ford called Witness .
It doesn't disappoint.

7/10 sounds right to me. I went in with low expectations given the initial reaction online but walked out pleasantly surprised. At the bare minimum, I hope they keep Sam as Cap and don't panic and pivot to bringing back Evans full time or recast Steve post-SW.

7 or 7.5/10 for me.

Just finally got around to seeing this today and actually really enjoyed it. It's not great but it's definitely not as bad as some seem to make it either. I have a list of problems with it of it and things I wished were either fleshed out more or reconfigured but overall I found myself pretty entertained.

I agree with others and hope that Disney doesn't get cold feet with Sam as Cap. Just try to steer forward with him and give him better material.

This is a solid film and would have been fresh if released in Phase 1 or 2. The middle was a bit boring but then pulled me back in towards to the end.

The acting was good overall.

Most important no convoluted complicated theory to numb mind.
7.5/10
Lack of mind numbness is always, A PLUS!

Hmm I don't know if this was addressed or not.
Did the sea level rise when the Celestial came out from the ground? From the movie, it looks so gigantic. They were interested mining the thing rather than being concerned how it affects the ecosystem of the Earth.

an Incredible Hulk sequel without the Hulk furthering the complete disregard for Hulk in this franchise was highly disappointed in that aspect and the Celestial reveal was just bad man

just an atrocious mess of a movie Anthony Mackie deserved better

The temptation when there is a negative RT score is to say that I enjoyed it despite the score or didn't know where the critics were coming from, etc. I'm going to try to resist the temptation aside from that preface.

I liked the movie a lot. It might have gone on a little too long, but I didn't have a ton of complaints. The movie's big twist was, unfortunately, completely spoiled by the marketing and, frankly, was obvious by the time it appeared (the one scene on the ship being a little too obvious). Ruth Bat Saraph was definitely underwritten. Other than that, I thought the tone was great. I thought it handled important themes with deftness. I thought the performances from all the major actors were good. For the introduction of a different Captain America, it handled it very well. I hope it does well.

tho there was no cannon explanation for this...
I'd assume it's some like as the Celestial emerged water filled the hollowed Earth it came out of, keeping the water level equal...

the real question is...
how did the hollow Earth not collapse into self apon it's emerging

I'm really curious how large that celestial is, especially to be sticking out in the sky/clouds. It also looks so wide, so it can't just be a tall thin structure to be reaching the clouds.

4/10 for me it didn't feel like it should have been on the big screen. It was very basic and we been there done that. Leader was not good at all from design to being a threat.
Didn't find any of the side characters interesting or memorable I hope to not see them in Avengers for long. They could have done Blade or some brand new character instead.

This was okay. Not as bad as some have made out but you could tell there were clear problems with the production and script. Sam Wilson has always been likeable and Mackton America was no different, he has likeable and endearing qualities and the new Falcon was similar in this regard so they bounced off each other quite well.

Carl Lumbly brought the emotion to the movie as Isaiah Bradley and Harrison Ford is just a legend of cinema. It took some time to adjust to him as Ross but he was really good throughout. There were some good set pieces, mainly the finale and the Celestial Head dogfight. The former I thought they did pretty well in showing how Cap was able to survive. Survival was all he could do really and the movie showed that.

Glad we have Red Hulk in the MCU now. We gotta get him with the Green Guy soon and hopefully Savage Hulk comes back along with it. The Leader was a disappointment, and Esposito feels wasted in the role they gave him.

Not bad though, I will add it to my home video collection and hopefully we get a sequel or two down the line. 6/10.

The movie was mid. Not great but not terrible.

Serpent Society Was wasted as generic paramilitary goons. Not sure why they not of gone with the more interesting designs and powers from the concept art.

Leader's look was very meh as well.

It's been 25 years since the first X-Men movie and it still feels like these filmmakers are playing it way too safe in the superhero look department. General audiences have a ton of superhero media over the last quarter of a century, you can afford to push the visual design more at this point.

On the positive notes Bradley and Ross arc hit the right emotional beats with me. Sam and Joaquín's convo about the burden/responsibility of being the representation will definitely resonate with people too.

7/10

Nothing spectacular but nothing offensive.

Although the Widow character, even if she is former one, being so tiny and kicking around much larger dudes seemed a little incredible...

Liv Tyler's cameo looked terrible. I almost didn't want them to include it.
