Should Bucky Barnes appear in the Captain America movie? He's always been a BIG part of the Steve Rogers mindset, and is currently a BIG part of the comic...

Do you want to see him, or do you fear there might be too many comparisons with Batman & Robin?

Most likely, the kid would die before the movie is even half-way over, so I wouldn't mind to have him in.

...Just as long as they put him in actual pants. :o

In a WWII period piece, make Bucky his best friend and primary supporting character.

yes brubaker retconned bucky so he was a 20 year old whith commando training so he could get down &dirty when cap couldn't

I don't see a problem with making him a kid. Age of enlistment is 18, and people lying about their ages to get in early wasn't unheard of back in WWII. Have him around 16 or 17.

I think you need to have Bucky in the first movie at least. Have him seem to die about half way through. Then you have him come back in 2 or 3 as The Winter Soldier.

I agree. Present him as an underaged soldier who Cap has taken under his wing.

I don't care if the Winter Soldier ever makes it into a sequel; I think Bucky's presence is very important, and Brubaker's take on him will work beautifully.

Since Cap should start out in the 1940s, a time where sidekicks were popular, he should be able to keep his sidekick. Cap is one of the few characters that probably could be able to keep his sidekick at his side on film, since that would add more to the "old time superhero feel". To see old posters of Captain America would be okay, but to see "Captain America and his sidekick Bucky!" would make Cap appear even more like a relic of the past.

And yes, Winter Solider would then be a possibility too.

I liked what they did in the Ultimates. Have Bucky be his best friend during WWII, and when Cap is reawaken, we will have a scene where Steve visits a very old Bucky. I think that has more emotional impact than that stupid Winter Soldier story.

Yeah have Bucky but not a little kid ....make him like an adult....Seriously think about it a little kid fighting battles.....no wonder he was killed.

I like to see him as a non goofy sidekick, maybe with a small bit of comic relief and then make him a villian for the Captain America sequel. Question is, who should play him?

Have him be a 16 or 17 year old boy who fights by his side. Then have him killed proving that you shouldn't have someone that young fighting terrorist Nazis.

The Ultimate books took some nice liberties with all the characters (like Cap's uniform), but I think having Bucky die is extraordinarily important to have in there.

I think it would be remiss to not acknowledge Bucky in some form.. however.. since the planned movie apparently intends to jump ahead with the modern-era plot, who knows how much/little of WWII is in there.. they may bypass him entirely or just give him a cameo..

To me, the movie should end with Cap and Bucky riding off on their motorcycle together to stop a new threat (Baron Zemo or the Skull with a missile pointed at Washington D.C.)....kind of what has been shown in the comics...the sequel (or Avengers movie :word: ) could open with Bucky jumping onto the missile, and Cap falling into the ocean...that way the entire second movie could show Cap adjusting to the modern world, dealing with the loss of friends and family, etc.,...

The Nazis weren't terrorists.

I think a WWII Cap movie would have to end in Cap's freezing. You leave the audience wanting more, and you have a spot where you can get right into Cap 2 (which I'd prefer over Avengers).
