It was always in the realm of possibility...I thought. :oldrazz:

How possible do you guys think $700 M is?
Going to have to wait for next week's numbers. It should be far more clear by then. TWS should have a big third week domestically with the holiday, so next week is the real question mark. Right now though, I'd say it is a real possibility.

I wonder if Cap's stronger bows in Asian territories can compensate for it's lower European bows in terms of matching Thor: The Dark World internationally.

It should also get a nice boost from North America and get an extra 50 million.

That with Asia should level out the worldwide total with Thor 2.

Great opening weekend! Hopefully this blows past TDW's numbers. It deserves it. Easily the best comic movie since the Avengers.

8th biggest opening doesn't sound impressive but that's stacked against Spider-man, Iron Man and Avengers.

Well, and look where the first one is on the list :)

It's a huge, huge leap forward.

I didn't really expect it to get 100 million in the opening weekend, but 96 million is close enough and it should be able to outgross other Marvel films like Thor 2, X2 and X3.

I'd love for it to outgross every movie… but we still have a ways to go before summer is over LOL!

Still, it's a $300+mil. movie and deserves every last bloody red cent!

How possible do you guys think $700 M is?
Not impossible, but fairly improbable now, I think. With this opening weekend, it's looking at a potentially good run toward about $250-260m domestic (unless it gets killer legs, which is certainly possible), so to hit $700m, it would need to eclipse Thor 2's overseas take. I just don't see that happening. To me, the optimistic target here is now $650-670mil.

That's almost double the first one's total take?

I like that.

Just got back from seeing it again with my buddy. He loved it and that says something because he did not like CA:TFA at all. And it was even better for me the second time around. Really happy to see it doing so well!

I wonder if Marvel and WB will fight for 2016 April spot now...

I never understood why they wouldnt want to be first. The Jan - March drought makes the first big blockbuster that much more welcomed. There's no Summer blockbuster fatigue.

Though I guess theres the thought that Star Wars could be delayed a few months and could overshadow an April release. Disney wouldnt want their own movies competing against one another. I dont know.

Anyways, I think Cap 2 will do quite well. Good movie and zero competition for the entire month.

It's in the top 10 that's still impressive by any standers, especially since it's a sequel.

Yeah, and one of the very few sequels that are actually better than the original, and right now, I think Captain America is the only one in the Marvel universe that can claim that!
