We all found out in Secret Invasion, that Captain Marvel was taken over buy a Skrull!

What then happened to the original Captain Marvel??

Have I missed something? If so, what comic was the answer in?

The original Captain Marvel is still dead and was never resurrected.

The one from Secret Invasion was a Skrull genetically altered (like the other infiltrators) to look like, act like, and even think he was the original.

I thought that it was the "Skrull Captain Marvel" that died of Space Cancer.

Wasn't Mar-Vell taken over by a Skrull during the Kree Skull War? If so, then wasn't it then the Skrull that ended up dying of Space Cancer, not Mar-Vell.

Mar-Vell died and a sleeper Skrull posing as him turned up much, much later. The Skrull, thanks to his sleeper programming, was completely convinced that he was the Kree Captain Mar-Vell. He learned he was a Skrull but didn't care; he fought against the Skrulls in Secret Invasion, died, and passed the Captain Marvel name onto Noh-Varr, a mutated Kree from an alternate universe who used to go by "Marvel Boy."

And is now a useless member of Norman Osbornes Dark Avengers.

What does Noh-Varr actually do? All I've ever seen him do is jump around shooting a pair of guns.

Interesting, so he is a bit of a bad ass then. I would of thought he'd get his own Dark Reign mini or something.

Yeah, he's pretty hardcore. He kicked the Young Avengers and Runaways' collective ass.

yeah the original "KATANNNNNNGG" Rick jones swapping Captain Marvel was battling Nitro. Homeboy blew up some nerve gas canisters and Marvel being the awesome dude that he was, stopped the canisters from leaking Gas. In doing so he contacted cancer from it. So i guess you could say Nitro caused his death. The death of the orginal CM is some tear jerky ass stuff and because it was so good. He should remain that way in my opinion

Definitely a character who never, ever needs to be resurrected. Although, with the state of comics at this point, he'll probably come back in a few years.

If he does, I hope it's done well. Like maybe in the next big space event. He comes back all Cosmic Jesus like.

We already got that with Adam Warlock during Conquest. And it kind of sucked, to be honest.

I'll take Genis back, though. I still miss that crazy a**hole.

I don't think Warlock counts. He was already alive when that mini started, he just went in a cocoon during the event and came out too soon. He's more Easy Bake John the Baptist than Cosmic Jesus.

And hell yeah, bring Genis back.

Imagine the sheer insanity of crazy Genis, his emo sister, Drax, and Rocket Raccoon on the Guardians. :)

"Shut up sis! You wouldn't even exist if I didn't kill the universe!"

I wonder what that fool Noh-Varr thinks about the current developments of the Kree Empire.

He probably doesn't know and the Kree yet, as he seems to be all about "Must protect Earth cause Skrull-Vell told me to." And, Noh-Varr was powerful enough to calmly subdue (well, at least put in place) Carol Danvers when she was pissed off and looking for blood. =/

His "Resurrection" in Secret Invasion (that turned out not to be him at all) was probably planned from the beginning (that it wasn't him) but was probably also Marvel testing the waters. Seeing Fan reaction to his being brought back.
Like in the 60 (or 70s) when the FF's Human Torch fought "Captain America." Turned out the same way, but Marvel got lots of positive fan reaction to the idea of bringing Captain America back, shortly after he came back in the Avengers.

So it depends on how fans reacted during his resurrection, I would imagine.

I could've sworn that Skrulls don't get cancer.

I don't know if Skrulls can get cancer or not (though I remember the Super Skrull getting fatal radiation poisoning from having his molecules exposed for a long time to the Van Allen Radiation belt) but that wouldn't matter in this case anyway: Afaik Skrull/Marvel never got cancer (I remember they were playing with the idea he was a past version of Marvel brought to the future, and while in the negative zone prison he was musing on his future fate).

That's kinda how they done it in the Earth/Universe/Paradise X series.
