Personally, I'm disappointed by this so far. Granted we have a long way to go but I'm sorry that the other symbiotes (Toxin, Venom, Hybrid, Scream) and symbiote related characters (Anti-Venom) haven't shown up. Plus, it seems that Hybrid wont be showing up at all, as the four aliens have been split.

The art has been a let down as well. Carnage doesnt look right, with tiny little eyes instead of the big ones that we are used to. I'm really hoping that this title improves.

Yeah, Zeb Well's CARNAGE mini didn't do it for me. Not to say it was bad, just...it didn't do anything for me. It was so-so to me. So I expected the same out of Carnage USA. I loved the 1st issue. Like. A LOT. Issue two took a bit of a dive. I guess this is just the calm before the storm picks up again.

One thing that pissed me the *%(& off was the teasing of Hybrid, Toxin, Agent Venom, and Anti-Venom being called in, and instead we get those no-name D-lister Life Foundation symbiotes brought back. Seriously, it is disturbing how these obscure "characters" have anything of a fanbase. Worse, they couldn't even bring Scream (the only GOOD one of the five) back? This echoes my displeasure with this month's Venom, teasing at the return of TOXIN only to reveal its just the ho-hum symbiote by itself with no sight OR mention of Toxin host Patrick Mulligan or how he lost the symbiote he was BONDED TO. I understand that Agent Venom is going to show up near the end, and that Anti-Venom doesn't exist anymore (though these Carnage minis aren't exactly clear on when they take place so there was only the slim chance this arc happened before Spider-Island), but it still felt way too "gotcha, b&*^%" to hype up certain characters and deliver trash that's better left forgotten.

I had hopes that all these obscure symbiotes would eventually reappear just for the sake of being killed off (chances are they will go that route since Eddie will be hunting symbiotes, and these symbiotes they brought back for USA are perfectly disposable and need to go). I would like to say that the way these off-brand symbies are being used is kinda clever. But my problem is I really only cared to see the relevant ones coming into play. Its bad enough we still yet to see that Scorn character make a move. I really hope this story will lead up to or result in the cleaning house of all these characters, leaving ONLY Venom and Carnage.

The rest I have to say is simple. The story's taking a slower pace compared to issue one, maybe to build up issue three I hope. I'm not a huge fan of Clayton Crain's art but here it works. I'm looking forward to finishing this.

I too expect to see several symbiotes erased in this series but I did honestly want to see Hybrid return. I thought his unique look would be interesting with Crain's art. Nope, we get the four original symbiotes back, with no sight of Scott. And Toxin is back, but without Pat, hm? Jeez, the symbiotes get written really poorly.

Speaking of Toxin's recent appearance...anyone else find it weird that the Venom symbiote went nuts and tried to kill the Toxin symbiote when the whole Venom/Carnage mini was about Carnage trying to kill his "son" while Venom was trying to save his "grandson" and make him into a hero?

Also how much you wanna bet that Scorn is gonna be the key player in the end of this to stop Carnage? Remember she only exists because of Zeb Well's Carnage mini that lead into this...

No, I don't consider it that weird.
In reply to Will Nolte's query:
Venom actually DID make an attempt to protect Toxin, until he saw his grandson spare Carnage's life. Then he formed a temporary alliance with his son and tried to kill Toxin, because he feared that when the Toxin Symbiote reached maturity, its individual strength would be more than the combined strengths of Venom and Carnage.
There were a couple of other factors that influenced Venom's decision, but you can go to Wikipedia or something for the rest :)
...Also, take into account that Venom (the symbiote) is a really aggressive and territorial organism, and the appearance of an even more powerful symbiote is probably going to be viewed as a threat that needs to be eliminated.

Thanks, Wolf :)
Also, I bought and read the first Carnage USA. It was awesomely creepy :)
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the second issue...it sold out at my local comic store :(
Heh. Cletus really does remind me of a Hillbilly version of Alex DeLarge, but with Lovecraftian superpowers.
