Casey Affleck will track the musical career of Joaquin Phoenix behind the lens of a camera.

Affleck is directing a documentary feature on Phoenix, his friend and fellow actor who last spring decided to swap the thespian business for a musical one.

Phoenix is embarking on a new path as a rapper, with an album to be produced by Sean Combs. He is scheduled to make his first public performance Friday at a Las Vegas club, which will officially kick off Affleck's shoot.

Affleck, repped by Endeavor and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, is known for his work in front of the camera with such movies as "Gone Baby Gone" and the "Ocean's Eleven" series. He directed a series of shorts for Sundance Channel in the late 1990s.

This is one of the worst ideas I have heard in a long time.

is Joquim on drugs? I swear, if he is, then he didn't learn anything from his late bro, River.

Wait... A RAPPER? When I heard he wanted to quit acting for a music career I had assumed he was inspired by playing Johnny Cash in Walk the Line but instead he's going to be a... RAPPER??

WHAT?
YEAH!
OKAY...

:wow:I am shocked to, me to me to.

What the hell? I guess he is as crazy as he seems in his interviews....

Loved him as Commodus in Gladiator, a rare take to have on the antagonist and he thrived at it. Awesome in Walke the Line as well.

And oh, he is on drugs. On Conan O' Brien once he talked about how him and his friends have a secret language they speak and he started speaking it. I AM NOT JOKING!

I had no idea that he wants to be a rapper

A rapper? For real? :o

I wished he grew that beard for Kubrick biopic...

I swear, I think he has lost his mind. I mean, this is kinda funny but he's throwing everything away. Maybe, that is punk rock after all, if you think about it.

Punk rock? No..I think he's pretty much just lost his mind. I just don't get what happened to the dude. He looks..messed up.

punk in theory. He's throwing everything away and going against what Hollywood wants him to be. It doesn't mean that he's not a nutjob!!

Its weird how they mentioned Joaquin only as his friend and fellow actor when Phoenix is his brother-in-law

What a creepy look....P Diddy's face says it all.

Can't wait to see him on the big screen again in a few years

you sayin that he doesn't want to be right next time him? That Mr. Phoenix perhaps stinks?

I have a handful of friends who have the hipster indie beard look. It doesn't work for everybody, esp Joquin.

haha....P Diddy's face to me gave off the expression "dude, are you serious with that look?" Couple that with Joaquin's "who......me?" look and the picture is priceless.

I remember him in one of my favourite films Russkies back when he was called Leaf Phoenix and not so crazy

The guy looks seriously demented.

And I can't, for the life of me, imagine him rapping.
