Casino Royale vs. Skyfall

GoldenEye to me is a top 5 Bond film. The villains, the girls, the score, action scenes. Really the only thing lacking is Brosnan and he's serviceable.

It helps that Alec is arguably the best villain of the franchise.

Nothing wrong with Quantum of Solace, just definitely not the best Daniel Craig Bond film.

Perfect way of putting it. It is below par for Craig's Bond, but crushes the vast majority of Bond films in terms of quality.

Quantum of Solace being a sequel to Casino Royale is probably why I liked QoS so much. A continuing storyline was something that I became a huge fan of and I hope Quantum shows up again during Craig's run as Bond.

I'm not a fan of GoldenEye either myself. Was never a fan of any of Brosnan's films as Bond.

BUT...GoldenEye the video game was freaking awesome.

Yeah, I hope they show up again. I personally love Camille, Bond's journey and his relationships with M and Mathis. A lot of great moments aswell imo. I think it is a good movie, which is a rarity in the Bond franchise.

Yeah it does. :csad:

All of Brosnans music to me sucked except for the Goldeneye theme. Tina was great.

The villains, yes. The girls yes. I to like the score and think the PTS and tank scenes are very good. But I find the film so high in Bond rankings because of the quality of other Bond films. It looks great sitting next to the Moore, Dalton and other Brosnan films.

It's way better than other Brosnan movies. Goldeneye feels fresh and I think that movie did a great job at bringing Bond into the post Cold War world .

To me, I put Quantum at the middle of the rankings, along with For Your Eyes Only and License to Kill.

I'd even say its better than half of Connery's films.

And I really can't think of anything in QoS that I enjoyed more than GE other than Craig and Dench's performances.

QoS is easily better then all the Moore films imo. The best Moore film being TSWLM, which I'd say is a mediocre film at best.

They are the core of the film though. Also, i love Mathis, Camille and Fields, even if underused.

As to the Connery films, I'd definitely take it over YOLT and DAF (so bad), but I think his first four are easily better. Those are classics, with the weakest being Dr. No.

Who was the best villain between Silva and Trevelyan? Since both were Mi6 agents ;)

There are definitely similarity.

Silva was a nasty, jaded piece of work, turned a loon by M. Alec was a nasty, jaded piece of work, turned a loon by the job. I'd probably take Silva though. Just for the foreplay scene with James and his need to make an entrance.

I rotlf at the chopper playing the song. But I agree, Silva was a better villain

All this Goldeneye hate... :exp:

It hasnt aged well imo. The 90s aesthetic, the jack ryan plot, leg chocking lady, that annoying computer hacker character, and the borderline awful score.

You may be right on everyone of those other points, but not that one.

Lol Silva making an entrance was great.

I know she is a favorite but she was always too over the top for me. Not that a woman cant do that but the way she acts just annoys the crap out of me. Its too much. From the outset i was ready for someone to put her down.

I can get that, but I do love her. Still, you make strong points.

I gotta say Casino Royale it had it all the action, the actors, the plot. Vesper made a better bond girl than M, despite M not being that bad.

QoS is easily a top ten Bond. It pretty much beats everything between OHMSS and CR.

I agree, except Goldeneye is better. IMO the top ten best bond movies :

Skyfall
Goldeneye
Casino Royale
Goldfinger
Quantum of Solace
From Russia, With Love
The Spy Who Loved Me
You Only Live Twice
Dr. No
The World is not enough.

Never was a huge fan of Moore's run on bond (though I love moore), and Lazenby ruins OHMSS, which was otherwise a fine movie. I hate Diamonds are forever, alongside Moonraker and Man W/Golden Gun. Everything else is either mediocre to bad.

Wouldn't it been nice to see M in a bikini? Huh? hmmm?

No love for Boris. :csad:

She added the 'tongue in cheek' fun the movie needed. Besides Alec (who reappears in the last half of the film) she's the face of villainy and I liked the fact that she's over-the-top. Unless you want to have 'Stamper' typer villain: Generic as all heck or 'Elvis': useless goon with a wig.

Yeah it does. :csad:

No way. Now, Goldeneye does have a mixed bag of score (Ladies first is woeful), but tracks like Run; Shoot, and Jump!, Fatal Weakness, and The Overture are great. TND was one of the best Bond scores ever, ad TWINE had good cues in it too. D.A.D. is okay, but Arnold's worst in the series. Also, the rejected song was better than the Tina Turner one, which i'm actually not huge on.
