I've given up on the idea that there will be a fifth Indiana Jones movie made that is decent (especially because of the CGI fest) or even at all done for twenty years. Spielberg, Lucas, and Ford are all in their near seventies and are going to be retiring in succession in the coming years as Sean Connery has done. They will be reduced to production roles only and voice acting. Beside one of the problems with Star Wars and Indiana Jones is that the actors are the characters since they were such an iconic touch. It's the same thing people say Heath Ledger is the Joker and Christopher Reeve is Superman because they played them so well. But because so much merchandise and secondary media like books, video games, comics, and more have used so many storylines, ideas, and artifacts not much material remains for Indy to go after. And after viewing KOTCS again, it does not make much sense to have Indy in the 1950s because the tone follows the B-movie genre of that decade and moves away from the classic tone of an adventure serial and things like giant monsters, time travel, and more towards outer space interests take heed. So I've given up on this concept for another movie and I think redone Raiders could be a descent idea.

So for now I choose:

Ryan Reynolds

No offense, but recasting or even a reboot of Indiana Jones is blasphemy. :o

And even if there was a reboot, Ryan Reynolds is a bizarre choice.

Oh shut it. This is a what if topic. I don't give a sh--ty sh-- sheeeeyit what you people think about an Indy reboot. Go holler somewhere else.

Either way, my pick for Jones nowadays would be Michael Fassbender or Sam Worthington.

Sean Bean, just so that the rebooted Indiana Jones would die in the middle of the film and the film would then end... thus making no more Indiana Jones reboot films

I thought Matt Damon or Ben Affleck would be a good choice. Ford was 39 when he got the job. You need someone who is cute but not beautiful and someone with a great personality.

Nathan Fillion is the only guy I could see pulling off the suave wit with the oh-crap-I'm-screwed terror Ford perfected.

This.
And it would work, as almost all of his characters tend to die before the film is over...which, now that I think about it, is kind of disturbing.

I see a 5th film myself more likely then a reboot any time soon. Speilberg and lucas love the character to much to reboot it. Plus if a reboot were to happen. It would likely be long after there deaths and if there estates sold the rights away to someone else.

Ok. Now that everyone has expressed their opinion on the viability of a reboot, could we stick to the matter at hand?

We get it! You people don't want a reboot!

Now stick to the topic and cast this ****er!

Who would be a good Marcus Brody? Maybe Kenneth Branaugh?

:ff: :ff: :ff:

Josh Holloway
Josh Brolin
Hugh Jackman
David Boreanaz maybe?

I don't see Sawyer as a professor. I don't think I'd like Jackman in the role but I'm not against it.

Brolin. Don't see it. Angel? Maybe. He's certainly gotten more animated since the Buffy years.

Bradley Cooper, Jake Gyllenhal, Ryan Gosling or if going for something slightly more light hearted, maybe Owen Wilson. He proved his acting chops in Midnight in Paris for me.

Nathan Fillion is probably my top choice, though he'd need to get into better shape than he's currently in on Castle.

I can also kind of imagine Tom Hardy in the part for some reason.

I pitched this idea here a while back and I got the same "NOOOOO REBOOTS IS EVIL INDIANA JONES IS TEH SACREDEST YOO DESERVE TO DIE BY LETHAL MEAT INJECTION" reaction from a bunch of people.

I know Ford originated the character but I don't think Indiana Jones is any more sacred than Batman, James Bond or any other character that has been recast over the years. I think it's just tough to see because it's a series that started out in movies rather than comics or books so people were only able to picture Indy in one way and were never really allowed to interpret their own version of him.

Perhaps I would have felt the same way as those people do but after watching the abysmal Crystal Skull, I know now that Ford is too old for the role and if we want to see the adventures of Indy continue, they are going to need to recast the role. We've seen other actors play younger versions of him (River Phoenix was really good in Last Crusade, and Sean Patrick Flanery had his moments in those Young Indy TV movies) so I think it's possible someone else could take up the role long-term.

But who? I like Ryan Reynolds, but I really can't see him as Indy, sorry. Jackman? I used to think he'd be good for this but not anymore for some reason. Boreanaz always looked like a young Harrison Ford to me, but I'm not sure he has the right amount of charisma to pull off a role like this. Chris Pine? Nah, he's already the iconic Captain Kirk.

I really don't know who could pull it off. I'd say "go with an unknown or a little-known actor" but you never know what you could get with that. You might end up with a Daniel Craig (win!) or a Brandon Routh (fail!).
