Joker - Christopher Walken. Always thought he had that maniacal look which is a prerequesite for the Joker, and the right age too for DKR

ChristopherWalken.jpg

Superman - John Allen Nelson who was on 24. Great build for his age, something about his face reminds me a lot of the Alex Ross style of art

71729309.jpg

Commissioner Gordon - Donal Sutherland. Perfect for that older well respected and authoritative look

donald-sutherland.jpg

Oliver Queen - Michael Douglas. Maybe not the usual choice but I think he could pull off the older Oliver Queen very well, he has a knack for playing these troubled rich types.

Robin - Ellen Page, PERFECT look for DKR robin

Damn good cast
Even that picture of Dafoe looks a tad like TDKR Joker.

Yeah but get this...you're gonna love this...

The filmmaking industry, y'know the business in which this movie would be made...they have these things, I KNOW it's gonna blow your mind...

They're called, are you ready for it...MAKE UP DEPARTMENTS!

AND, and...what's this? Digital Aging!!!???

:wow: :wow: :wow:

Those Hollywood types just think of EVERYTHING!!!

Now I gotta go wash the taste of sarcasm out of my mouth...carry on.

Did anyone see that version of Dark Knight Returns done in B:AS style on the BOF site? It looked amazing. Why can't they do a full version of that?

Yeah it's from "Legends of the Dark Knight;" a fan favorite episode from TNBA. They also feature a very cool Dick Sprang vinette.

If TDKR were ever done in a visual medium outside of comics, animated would be the way to go IMO, both because it would be far easier to capture the essence of Miller's work through animation and because doing a live action format, while a nice thought, would just be too expensive and, given the Nolan films, would just never happen any way...not for now at least.

OH WOW! I NEVER KNEW THAT!

seriously, why would the studio be stupid enough to spend money on making someone look older when they can just simply cast someone older?

Because the actors in place are already...right for the role?

Gina Gershon would be an excellent choice for Miller's depiction of Selina in terms of the characterization. Once that's in place, it's FAR easier to age her and keep that character intact rather than get someone who physically is older yet might not be right for the part.

By your logic, which seems to lend itself to only caring about the physical appearance of a role, FOX should've given Michael Clarke Duncan the boot to get a more comic accurate Kingpin.

But that's the trick...Duncan's performance is very much in line with Fisk on an internal level.

The character is the key factor. Whatever lengths or compromises you have to make to get the actor to look like the character is fine once you have an actor that can embody that role to the fullest on an emotional level.

Sometimes you have choices that click because they work both ways, like Patrick Stewert and Christopher Reeve for instance.

I mean, sure Michael Keaton looked absolutely NOTHING like the comic book Batman...and yet he was able to overcome that and become Batman for an entire generation of fans, and that was more about his acting ability and less about the physical nature of the suit. That suit's nothing but sculpted rubber without the soul of Keaton beneath that surface.

So get an actor that does the character justice on a deeper level, and then work on making them look more comic book accurate...NOT the other way around.

Although on the other hand, which is enough to garner a double post...

You're right. The Studio WOULD find it more sufficient to go the easy route.

Because the Studio doesn't give a s**t about the creative integrity of the film. They only care about money, and couldn't care less whether or not the character actually works the way he or she is supposed to.

Seriously, if you lean more towards looking at the filmmaking process from the studio's selfish and greedy point of view, then you're not really appreciating the film itself as a piece of living and breathing art.

Sometimes I think people by in large fail to realize the utter hell it is to make a film. I guess that just comes with talking to fans of these movies who aren't going through the process of getting into the industry themselves. Everyone's a critic for better or for worse I guess.

ok ya, gershon may be a great actress for the role, but shes also in her 40's and doesnt look anywhere near the age of millers selina, i dont think it will be hard to find someone around the right age and make the character develop any less with someone other than gershon
and as you said with keaton, he didnt look like the character, but did the character justice, i dont think you got what i said, i didnt say get someone who looks more like selina, but someone in the age range of the character, theres alot of good actresses out there that are in thier 50's

and bull****, i not one of those people who mention some talentless twit for any role. but looks do matter, but its not the most important thing, but its stupid if they are gonna waste money on making someone look older when they can just get an older actor/actress for the role
and MCD wasnt too old/young the role, he was just the wrong colour, but if you watch the second disc of the movie, oneo f the producers(i think, or director cant remember) said they auditioned many white wrestlers for the part, but their acting wasnt good enough, and then someone suggested MCD because he can actually act and had the build, so technically ,they didnt plan on having a black kingpin from the get go
