The episode, which is under tight wraps by the network and Warner Bros. Television, will be one of Smallville's most expensive and ambitious of the season. [/FONT][/FONT][/FONT]

SO what would be your team? (Lets not get into a big three, big 7 debate....use only characters that TPTB could reasitically use). Given this would be a SV spin-off, Young Justice Teen Titans characters would probably be included as well. So here's who I would like to see.

Green Arrow....we did say spin-off right?
Martian Manhunter....he's been in every incarnation of the JL, he should be here to, plus near Superman powers would make him very versatile.
The Atom......scientist and subterfuge all roled into one.
Cassie Sandsmark......if we can't have wonder woman, then wonder girl is a great second choice.
Dinah Lance....Love interest for Ollie, and some much needed sex appeal.
Jesse Quick....no flash, impulse on another show? no problem, gimme a female speedster as an adequate subsititue.

and lastly.....

Nightwing....we'd need a leader, someone who knows the superhero ropes and has been at this for a while. Robin leads the Teen Titans....Batman is a key member of the JL in comics. Dick Grayson could finally get some recognition other than being reffered to as the old boy wonder.

I think it's entirely possible to do a JLA spinoff, because they already have 4 of the "post crisis original 7" already established in the Smallville world. Black Canary should be easy to get rights to, after that butchery called Birds of Prey it's pretty obvious they care nothing for that property. And if they don't want to cast Atom, Cyborg can fulfill the scientist role.

Darn. The thread title got my hopes up but the article is definately speculation on CC's part without fact.

It would be hard to come up with a decent League rooster with all the embargos in place, but for now:

Hal Jordan as Green Lantern - Star of the show.

Green Arrow - Classic Hal/Ollie friendship.

The Atom (Ray Palmer)

Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) - Rights are now available.

Booster Gold

Cyborg - Token minority of the team.

Black Canary - Girl of the team.

Aquaman

Martian Manhunter - Leader and mentor.

I doubt they could use Supergirl either. The film dept has an embargo on characters relating to those blue tights.

Here are all the characters they can't use since you wanted a list;

- Batman or any Batman related characters (Film Dept)

- Superman and certain \S/ related characters

- Captain Marvel (Film Dept)

- Flash (Film Dept)

- Wonder Woman (Film Dept)

Green Lantern is likely to be claimed by the film department very soon too unfortunately.

Pretty much all the popular characters are off the table.
