The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

Fans tend to not be so narrow-minded with casting. Bale had a cult following, so it's only logical his name would pop up on message boards. Also helps that a lot of his roles were small glimpses into how Bruce/Batman would be played, if he got the part.
I dont wanna call fans narrow minded, but to me a big majority of the suggested actors has done atleast one blockbuster film. or have starred in a popular tv show.

I'd say Jack Nicholson and Arnold Schwarzenegger were much more famous names in Hollywood, at the time they were cast for their respective roles.

I completely agree, and, in my opinion, both did pretty badly. As I've said in another thread, Jack Nichlson played Jack Nicholson instead of The Joker, as he was cast. Arnold did much of the same, really.

1) I was referring to the franchise. That includes Burton and Schumacher. I'm not. I'm talking about Batman 3, in this series. I agree with you on the old series, however, and it apparently did well for it. This is a different time, a different genre, and almost a different set of characters, when speaking of interpretation.

2) I noted fame and elite class of actors. So if they're not famous, then more than likely they're highly known names within the "filmgoing and acting community".

That's kind of side-stepping what we're talking about. I'm aware that our actors are famous. Nine times out of ten, movies of this quality and caliber are not going to pick an up-and-coming actor who has only done stage-work for unknown companies (one of the few exceptions was Orlando Bloom with Lord of the Ring, and even he had a few on-screen roles beforehand).

I wasn't referring to how they did. I was commenting on your statement that getting these big actors would seem like a privilege when that's hardly the case.

That doesn't erase the reputation of the franchise. Just because Bond has been recently rebooted, do you think anyone that has a chance of being cast in that series, will JUST be thinking of Casino Royale? No, of course not. They consider the entire franchise, the entire brand name and what they've represented over the years.

What am I sidestepping here? You just basically agreed with what I've said.

Go easy on me, I'm about to make a suggestion that is completely left-field. It was literally like a lightening bolt hit me in the head. What about the RZA for the Riddler? I'm being deadly serious, I know he don't look nothing like him (for obvious reasons) But the guy can act (proven in American Gangster and Ghost Dog), hes quirky and kooky and he is also a genius in real life. I just think he could bring something really unique to the role and he suits Nolans Bat-verse perfectly IMO.

lol fair enough. i didn't think many people would like it. But if you understood who RZA was and what he is about you wouldn't find it so laughable, i guarentee you

For your consideration, in keeping with Nolan's realverse, could the casting change or solidify with the following scenerios.

1.The triad, pissed that their guy was snatched by Bats, sends Lady Shiva to Gotham to take him out. In the mean time the Riddler, using modern tech, hacking, etc. to hit the banks and such is wrecking havoc. So Bats has to get the Riddler and avoid being exed by L. Shiva.

2.Penguin shows up in Gotham. He's a international arms dealer who got his moniker by having a tendency to wear traditional tuxes, is diminutive in size, and has a walk resembling a waddle due to a bum leg. He already has heard about Batman and sent Deadshot ahead to take him out, or at least distract him while he does business. (Don't forget a nasty brella)

3. Riddler, same as above, steals something valuable(as in extreme database) but Catwoman steals it from him(not knowing what it is) and Batman has to deal with getting it back from her, nailing the Riddler, and perhaps even protecting her from the Riddler.

Yeah, I know, pretty basic. But in a way so was Dark Knight, made extreme by the characters. Now, each though, has a real world vibe that I can see Nolan seeing in the next flick. And each has a Major and Minor villain arc he seems to prefer. By the way I used these a few years back and just rehashing them a bit.

I dont remember RZA in American Gangster. I remember Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Ruby Dee, Carla Gugino, Josh Brolin, Chiwetel Ejiofor, & Cuba Gooding Jr., but not RZA.

Yea RZA was in it. When Crowes character got his own drug task force RZA was like his top guy, he was the one who had all the street connections.

I dont remember him. He couldn't have been that amazing, not even Denzel was.

yea i didn't really like American Gangster, it was too long winded and got boring after about a hour. And why was Denzel copying his " My man! " line from Training Day?

hey, interesting choice for the Riddler. I can picture Jude Law in character.

This I like. It would be great to see Lady Shiva in Nolan's universe. :D

I still like my suggestion for the Riddler better - Dave Chappelle

would kick RZA's ass.

"I'm Ed Nygma, *****!" **Slaps RZA upside the head**

You just need the Chapelle Show to come back to do that in a skit not have Dave in a Batman film as Riddler.
