Well, for one thing the movies are grounded in realism, with the mutant plight being made as close to reality as it can be. Somehow I doubt a 5,000 year old warlord armed with alien technology and a cluster***** of a time-travel paradox with Cable would translate into that realistic atmosphere very well.

MCD, Fishburne, all those guys are great, but shouldn't be Apocalypse, IMO.

I'd like an overseas actor, actually. Apoc shouldn't sound like he's anywhere close to North America.

There are no bad characters, only bad writers. It be easy to change Apocalypse's character a tad to fit in with the movie. Instead of being a 5000 mutant, Apocalypse is a just a very powerful and insane mutant who believes he is a 5000 year old Egyptian god. He has gathered a cult of worshipers (his minions from the 616 universe) to assit him in his holy crusade, to rid the world of the weak and the unfit. See its easy, plus he make a good contrast to Magneto, who is somewhat reasonable, with someone who is insane and genocidal.

I would do Apocalypse much like Gollum in the LOTR movies. I'd get someone with a powerful and not too well known voice to do his voice (no James Earl Jones, Fishbourne, etc). He may not do the movements, but he would do the voice.
