Cataclysm - The End of Ultimate Marvel?

This is to discuss the major Ultimate Marvel Event, and possibly it's last

After such a long run it seems like the Ultimate Marvel is coming to an end, some characters will possibly survive, like Miles Morales, and maybe the 616 will inherit Ultimate Reed Richards as a villain. Maybe all of the characters will survive in some way, but Ultimate has been a low selling brand to marvel latelly, something which seems to have started with ultimatum, instead of a rebrand it may have been the UMU's death.

Now let's see how the new Galactus threat will be handled, if anything it seems like the events here may end up affecting 616. Anybody read Cataclysm 0.1? Let's discuss...

Just wanted to say that I would love to see Ultimate Reed cross over. And evil Reed teaming up with Doom would be a match for any superhero team.

Agreed, while i feel sorry to what Bendis did to Ultimate Reed Richards, the following writters elevated him to an amazing and unforgetable villain (except when they decide to call him a nerd). Definitelly hope the character stays, and from what was foreshadowed Reed may still be the smartest character in the UM world and the Earth's main salvation.

If Ultimate Marvel is destroyed and certain characters survive then i think Miles Morales, Reed Richards and Samuel Jackson's Nick Fury should be the ones, in fact, with Nick having been in the Squadron Supreme universe and aparently being good enough to rise through the ranks i'm surprised they didn't bring him to 616 in order to make him the leader of SHIELD, instead of giving white Nick a son who happened to have lost the same eye as he did.

Though it would be kind of awesome to see 3 Nick Fury's vs Dr. Doom and Reed Richards, wasn't Victor in 616 more likeable right now? In least he seems to not be planning any vilainous action due to Reed Richards's daughter

I think the UU Spider-man vs 616 Spider-man/Doc Ock would be neat as Miles met Peter before.

But if it is the end of the UU then they better make it memorable and give it something crazy awesome as it deserves for a funeral pyre.

Thinking of the UU, whatever happened to Ult. Doom after the zombies thing?

Ultimate Doom was killed by The Thing in the end of Ultimatum, because Reed Richards himself wasn't able to do something like that (until Bendis came in and made him a psycho). There are rumors that Miles may replace the Spider-Man from 616, but i highly doubt it.

I'm good with them ending the Ultimate Universe. It was a fantastic universe, but has long run its course.

However, Miles is a wonderful character, and I really hope if they are ending the UU, they bring Miles to the 616.

I wouldn't hate if they brought Gwen over too, just for the future story/drama potential for when Peter returns.

It's time for them to put the Ultimate Universe to bed. I respect the idea of modernizing the classics and putting a more "realistic" spin on the Marvel U (as were the early intentions of starting the Ultimate line) but things have spiraled so far out of control and gotten way too weird, all for the sake of differentiation. Pull the plug and start over if you have to, Marvel, but the UU is unfixable at this point.

Yeah that's kinda true, if they ever try something like this again i hope that they drop Marvel time and let the time pass normally in the series, as well as try keeping a thight continuity as the comics were originally doing.

Anybody else read last issue of Ultimates Last Stand? Seems like Reed is once again "good", but since it is Bendis who's writting the comic i fear for his sanity

Not sure what to think about that, i would have prefered Ultimate Marvel to get a great send-off or an Avengers vs Ultimate event as rumors last year said, i like the world there moving on, but i fear that Bendis will just restrict in order for all to take place in a single year.

Either way i'm very excited to see more of Miles Morales and Reed Richards.

Now that Cataclysm has concluded I am left satisfied that the Ultimate U has survived, but unfulfilled with its current line up.

The Good? More Miles Morales! Haters can hate all they want. He is my favorite Spiderman. And he is a Spiderman with a team now. The last arc of Ultimate Comics Spiderman and Cataclysm excited me with how well they fought besides each other. I was always a fan of Cloak and Dagger going way back as well. And with his Dad split, I think Spiderwoman (now aka Black Widow) will make a fine mentor for Miles going forward.

I'm not sure how well rebooting Ultimate FF is going to play out. Was never a fan the first time around. Although the redemption of Reed Richards intrigues me if that is the way they are going. We shall see.

The Ultimate XMen have been botched beyond repair, but I'm not that mad about it either. Marvel must feel the same way since they didn't include an X-title for the NOW relaunch. I'm sure they will come up with something down the line, but if Kitty Pryde is your heaviest hitter mutant currently, they have a ton of work to do at the drawing board.

All New Ultimates?? As much as I like them as a team people are gonna call them Ultimate Power Pack because of how young they are. What can you do though? No Cap. No Thor. No "A" team? Can Cap be the one Ultimate Universe character that cheats permanent death? I hope so.

Anyways. Just some random thoughts about the current state of 1610.

Just finished the first issue of the new Ultimates. Hard to enjoy a story when the art is so bad. Can't we just let Marquez draw all the Ultimate titles involving Spiderman? Time to bring over some talent from the main line.

Didn't see a thread for it anywhere so I thought I would ask here. Any one read the All-New Ultimates? I was interested because the team seemed unique and wondered if it was any good. Or you can direct me to a thread for it if the thread exists.
