What is Spider-Man celebration day exactly? Because I keep hearing it and it sounds....REALLY CHEESY. We're talking Batman whipping out a Batvisa cheesy. So the city throws a party to recognize Spidey and he swings onto or across a stage....

I just think it sounds really out of character. The charm of Spider-Man is half the city hates him and the other half like but aren't sure to trust him. Sure in the first two movies there is a lot of enthusiasm but there was still negativity. The city throwing a celebration in his honor, much less him showing up on a stage to get a "key to the city" or some such ****....

Just sounds like a really bad, cheesy thing to do.

Just my 2 cents from what little is known though.

Even though it may sound cheesy I still like the concept. For some reason I think there could be potential.

Does soumd a little cheesy but i'm sure Raime will make it work....

I like the idea. It's about time Spidey gets a little appreciation:D:up: Seriously, I would wait for more info before knocking it. It could be one of the things about the film. You never know, but I do see what you're saying about the cheese factor:o

Well it just doesn't fit with the character. Normally speaking we know and remember the character as hated for the world. NOw a handful of passangers saved on train being thankful is one thing, the whole ****ing city cheering him on reeks of what ruined the Queensboro Bridge rescue in the first movie. The city generally is down on him is part of the appeal. If he starts getting Superman type praise....I think it just sounds too much like something out of a Donner Superman movie.

I'll add one of my favorite moments (one of the biggest laughs) of SM2 is when Spidey comes swinging out of that back alley with the pizzas and all that dude can say is "Hey....he stole that guys pizzas!!!!" Classic. I"d rather have the general populus react like that than have another World DAy Unity Festival but instead this time it is all about Spidey up there with Macy Gray this time.

Too cynical....sorry.

Hey all im a huge spidey fan and I love these boards and had to join. Anyway I may have some news on the celebration day because my old local highschool band is featured in this scene. Now I dont know if I was lied to or if you guys already had known this but yes they have the special day 4 spidey and pete is there taking photos as is eddie brock. He quickly changes into his spidey suit and attends but it gets interupted by none other then the sandman. Also I was told eddie asked gwen stacy for a picture but from the way I was told it was as if they didnt know each other so maybe there isnt a prior relationship between them. So yea I just wanted to share some news.

Eh, I don't really like the idea much either, but I'm sure a certain villain will just crash the party pretty fast. :O

Is this that "Spider-Man Day" stuff, me and JJJ hate Spider-Man Day?

I take it that all of this is going to come crashing down around Spidey, when evil takes hold of the boy. He'll lose whatever he gained. And me and JJJ will tell everyone we told you so, he's no damn good.

Sure but again I have images of Batman showing up for a charity auction and whipping out a Batvisa before Mr. Freeze crashes. I just think this idea shoulda' been axed as there are much better ways to have him and a villain meet than have the whole city gushing at Spider-Man, way out of character in my opinion.

Raimi did say this one will stray away from the comics the most which will hopefully prove to be for the better...

So long as Spidey doesn't pull off his mask during the party, I'll be fine with it.

The concept kinda bugged me when I first heard about it....

Until all the symbiote information and pics started leaking out. I actually really like the idea when you put it into context.... the basic idea being that the city finally, finally is now rallying around Spider-Man for the first time.... and suddenly he gets the symbiote, the attitude change that comes with that, and all the praise he's built up suddenly crashes down around him as his popularity sinks even lower than ever before. It's another case of that standard, good ol' Parker luck. ;)

Well long as it ain't like Superman III crashing where we have Spidey in a bar drunk before bedding a blonde (oh please don't let Peter **** Gwen in this movie, pretty please).

I hate the idea. Spideys not Superman, the public hate him and see him as a freak they would never have a day in his honor.

LOL, now that would be cool. Take her back to his roach and rat infested apartment, where they play Polka music 24/7 and do her Spider-Style. :D

DACrowe, a lot of the crap and garbage they do in the comics don't fit with the character but they do it anyway.

Stop *****ing about the movies for doing something that makes sense.

it's really done for simplicity, the spidey movies so far are filled with convinient plots and so forth....

it's only done for a blatant comparison of how he is no longer liked by people when he gets the symbiote suit...

heck, i don't even know why he is liked in the second one by peeps, 2/3rds through the first one, there was a growing hatred for his character and police wanted him for questioninig. all of a sudden at the tram incident, he is loved by all, same goes for his showdown with ock in the second one..

this is fairly strange considering if a news reporter dedicates a large portion of his life to threaten this person's record, you would expect for him to at least do it at a profit which means that he needs to be selling papers which in return means people must share his views but it doesn't seem to be reflected in the lovey dovey new york peter parker resides in.

all in all, these films are still walking slightly in the superman film footsteps...it's quite clear the parade in superman 3 was used also to show his descent when the bad superman started emerging and fought the good supes.

i don't see any other reason for it.

Forget that. Why's gwen stacy in this?

Then the landlord walks in and says, "Rent?"

That's it? What a waste. Now my Betty brant will get another full minute of screen time or less. Damn you Gwen Stacy. Nothing against you though, bryce...
