What do people think of the chances of getting the rights for the character Kingpin back? Would the rights just revert to Marvel if they didn't use him for another Daredevil film or would Sony buy him up? And if Marvel did get him would then just loan them to Sony easily?

What do you guys think? I wouldn't mind seeing him pop up in a Spider-man movie at some point.

As far as I know Marvel will only get Kingpin back (along with Daredevil, Bullseye, Elektra, etc) if Fox willingly gives them up (very unlikely). If fox lets the rights slip (by not producing a movie in a certain amount of time) they revert straight back to Marvel and are not open to bids from other parties.

So as long as Fox produce a DD film (it doesn't even have to have Kingpin in it) they will keep him.

If Marvel were to get DD back I don't imagine they would lend any of his supporting cast out, unless there was something they were getting back from Sony in return.

That's what I think. Kingpin either stays with Fox or reverts to Marvel Studios. And they will keep in with DD. Don't look for Kingpin in Spidey anytime soon. To be honest Hammerhead and Tombstone could fill the void of "Kingpin" nicely if that was what they went for.

The only thing missing in that instance would be the tidal wave of awesome fat jokes.

Thanks for the answers. Yeah, I didn't think it was realistic, but I still wanted to see. Maybe someday down the road when both Sony and Fox have exhausted their Marvel movies they will let the rights revert. Though god knows if that will happen in our lifetime lol.

Isnt time almost up for the DD rights at fox? I mean its been almost 8 years since DD was released at the theatres and it doesn't look like they're doing anything with the character right now...

Anyway as Spiderine said don't look for Kingpin in any Spidey movie for now as the rights will revert back to Marvel.

Elektra extended the rights.

Fox hired a writer back in February '10 to work on a DD reboot script.

Last update was in September from Variety, who said it was till in progress.

So the rights reverting appears unlikely at present.

unless they do a really good new version of daredevil with kingpin in it i think he would be cool to see in a spider-man movie ONLY if it was after a green goblin and doc ock movie. not too crazy about seeing him in the next film

As much as I like Michael Clarke Duncan, I don't wanna see him as Kingpin again. I want Kingpin to be a heavy set, sinister yet somewhat classy, not some Suge Knight mobster hybrid. I was just waiting for him to hang Daredevil out the window by his ankles :o
