chances of supergirl in future superman movies?

and i'm talking the justice league unlimited version and not the' Whats a tree 'version(jesus christ!)? would be interesting and would stop supes from moaning he's the only one of his kind left. also opens up avenues for emotion without the annoying lois lane.

thoughts?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for ANY version of Supergirl to show up, particularly since Singer has already demonstrated an ignorance of anything outside of the George Reeves TV show or Christopher Reeve movies.

The only awareness he's shown of comics continuity that I've seen is in the messianic parallel of the character, which, frankly, is getting a little annoying IMO.

It's a pity because the superman series misses strong women who can take care of themselves and it seems like an excellent opportunity to get young women into the theatres. i really love the kara zor el version of the character(no matrix whatever crap-keep it original) and lets face it warner will not give her her own movie again- especially with flash and green lantern on the way.

I don't want a supergirl movie cos I think it trivializes and devalues Superman's credibility. Its kind of like "the next karate kid" which they made after the karate kid trilogy.

I do not think we will see Supergirl in the new movies untill they can get Superman right at first. Her Comic book sales are very good so maybe in a later movie.

hypesuperman explain how it devalues superman. i don't understand?
i think her introduction could help superman become more emotional and to see how he deals with not being the only one left.

i was looking at the first comic she was in and it was explicitly described as 'the happiest day of superman's life'.maybe that is an avenue they could take.

As for the new supergirl comics, fans love having kara back-IMO she should have never been killed in the first place. the whole thing was purely for a superman reinvention- they still wanted supergirl so made a stupid hybrid- they lost their way. things are back as they should be.
and how good are good sales uncanny ? i haven't been looking.

Take out the 52 weekly comics and Supergirl is a top 10 sales DC comic book for all the months her comic book has come out.

that's really good. i usually pick it up just cause i'm really excited about kara zor el being back. She should never have been killed in my opinion.

I'd love to see her in a Superman film, or have her own film, but I can't see Singer doing this. By incorporating Jason into Superman as his son, he's pretty much neutralized the chance to use Kara. Going to Krypton and hitting Argo, then coming back to earth with her would have been a great opportunity to include Kara. Instead, we get Jason as Superson.

Singer tends to screw up comic origins to suit his stories anyway so i doubt her being on argo is the problem. there is the whole 'do we skip the first supergirl movie?' debate. i take the news report in that as the time superman left before superman returns(because supergirl is set after superman 2) but it was a god awful movie. she really needs a reinvention.

here is the comic thread i set up in the comic section to deal with her

I'm hoping they use the Batman/Superman: Public Enemies/Supergirl storyline origin.

Hopefully things go like this, Jason dies, Superman is all sad. Supergirl arrives, Superman overcomes his grief and saves Supergirl and gets his redemption.

Hmm... that COULD be possible when there's a SR spinoff. However could there be a chance kara would be played by this girl? :http://www.kaleycuoco.org/:woot:

i saw her in charmed and wasn't pleased- her voice grated on me. She looks good though- if it does happen i would like singer to try thr whole 'unknowns' thing first.

As for storyline maybe the batman/superman- supergirl arc. Superman finding her- lois getting in the way trying to get a scoop, maybe jason bonding with her first. The theme of the next one will be family and i think kara could be put in this effectively

it's feasibly possible but more than likely would turn into an eye candy fest.

superpowers wise or supergirl half naked wise? :woot:

Meh. Supergirl kinda sucks.

I'd much rather prefer Jason as a teenager around the 4th film taking on the Kryptonian name Kon-El (obviously recast by then) and WB attempting the Death/Return of Superman Arc with the 4 Supermen.

I never liked Kon-El being the clone of Lex and Supes and kinda like the thought of him being the son of Superman and Lois.

Hopefully the possible positive response to the big Superman/Doomsday DTV film coming out will make WB consider it.

well there a two versions of Kara zor-el to consider!

Well if they do the Death Arc, we'll already have:

- Steel

- Cyborg Superman

- Eradicator (most likely replacing Brando's Jor-El in the FOS)

- Jason as 'Kon-El'

4 Supermen.

Why would they need a Supergirl?

i have a problem with the cyborg superman, and a teen jason- for him to age 10 to 12 years would mean superman and lois and perry and jimmy. i think that would take a lot of toll on this francise. The whole 'kon-el' character is also a legal liability as to who gets the rights and the money.

with this in mind i think supergirl could prove effective in a sequel. we may not even get your storyline so it would not be an issue.

Actually Jason would be a teen by the 4th film, 14 or 15 years old. They dont necessarily have to name him Kon-El but its kinda necessary (for the fans) to have him in that position that Kon-El was with the 4 Supermen.

I could see him becoming popular if handled properly, Kon-El certainly was.

By then, Superman and Lois would be late 30s, Jimmy would be late 20s, and Perry....well Perry is always old.

I dont think Supergirl replacing Kon-El in the 4 Supermen would fly well. Female superheroes in films just tend to suck. Theyre better at being damsels in distress.

I dont think the Superboy lawsuit has any bearing on the film dept either. They only focused in on Smallville when SR depicted Stephan Bender as teenage Clark with superpowers (they didnt seem to care about that).

assuming the time difference of the movies is the same as life of course

With a child actor on contract, it would have to be.

Leabu would likely be recast by then anyways though, in preference for an actor that looks more like how Bender looked in SR.

Bender has the perfect look for how the young teenage Kon-El would have appeared in the Reign of Supermen storyline in the Death Arc. Conner was pretty young in it.

The funny thing is Bosworth would be 32/33 by then, but I'm sure she'd probably still look the same as now.

i dont know how i feel about killing off a 5 year old, but it actually sounds like a doable way to make room for Kara. i say "kara" because i dont feel its necessary to have another superhero in a SUPERMAN movie. but definitely explore clarks lonliness and the relationship with his new family.

yeah, pre crisis kara was clark's secret weapon- she went out of her own will, defying superman. So she could be in it.
