Realistically Singer will most likely still work with Dougherty and Harris on writing the sequel but I definately feel that maybe they should do something like this...

Story by Paul Dini, Mike Dougherty, Dan Harris, Jeph Loeb, Bryan Singer

Screenplay by Mike Dougherty, Dan Harris, Chris McQuarrie

McQuarrie hasnt done anything for a while but he did write The Usual Suspects if that counts for anything although he probably isnt right for Superman.

Dini and Loeb have extensive knowledge of Superman and between them they have worked on the awesome Animated Series, Smallville and heaps of the comics. Not to mention they both work on LOST.

I wouldn't like if they changed writers. They got the train on the track, and they shouldn't just change it, you know. Just keep it going with the same team.

I enjoyed the script of Superman Returns, and would hate to see a change of writers at this point. I want to see their vision for SR 2, because I know that they have respect for the character and understand Superman through and through.

Course, having Dini write the story to SR 2 would be something out of this fangirl's dreams--but he has other projects to pursue.

If Singer is sewn at the hip to frick & frack - then goodbye Mr. Singer!

Lol, My dad is friends with Chris McQuarrie's father. Allen. My dad told him that I want to be a screenwriter and he told me I should deffinetly meet Chris. Originally I just wanted to meet him because he is best friends with Singer, but now I can tell him that people want him to help pen the Superman sequel.

Also, did you know that he wrote "Usual Suspects" for Singer in school. Singer aparently isn't a great writer, and in a college class, he had to write a script. He didnt want to fail, so he called Chris up, and asked him to pen a script. Bryan handed Chris's script in 'the usual suspects' claiming it as his own...it got an A (lol) and was sent off into a contest, later, a movie.

Chris' dad told my parents that like a week ago at a party, I thought it was cool that the directors of big time movies are just like normal teenagers who cheated on their homework.

Keep in mind that, perhaps more than Singer, the writers have a knowledge of Supes outside of the 1978 film.

I think they could get folks more knowledgeable of comics to write up some drafts to be sculpted by Doherty and Harris since i think this franchise needs a little bit of the creativity of the comics as opposed to making up villains and using lex luthor for the sequel. This franchise has stalemated in creativity before. It shouldnt happen again imo.

However i think the writers are most definitely skilled and shouldnt be replaced.

I like this idea.

Thank you. Normally id say comics wouldnt be needed if the franchise runs well, but superman always runs into a rut with ideas that go nowhere if theyre left to their own devices. Singer speaking of an alien terror is encouraging, i just hope lex luthor doesnt pop out of nowhere and cut a deal with each enemy that appears :down

The sequel definitely needs better writers. The story for SR was horrible, and that was reflected at the box office along with Singer's vision.

Personally I would Keep Singer's writing crew in there. Second, I REALLY don't want any of the Writers from STAS any where near a Superman movie. :down

NO! That is the worst suggestion and worst possible scenario. CHANGE THE WRITERS. For the love of all that is holy.... get someone else to do the script.

They desperately need a change of writers. These hacks working with Singer have no clue what they are doing.

Give it to Mankelweitcz. Guy wrote STM and Donner version of S2. He had to tame himself back then. I bet the guy could write a kick ass one now. And if you say he is too old for a movie for today, Spiderman 2 and 3 was written by a guy who wrote "Ordinary People" about the same time donner and them were doing their thing.

By the way LordofHypertime, I love your sig.:D

I like dougherty and harris' writing. That said, I would have a few suggestions about the sequel.

THAT said, if Jeph Loeb were ever to write a Superman movie, I'd go nuts.

...in a good way.

Nicholas Meyer. give it to him. He didn't know anythign about Star Trek when he took Trek 2 other than Spock having pointy ears (says it in the trek 2 dvd commentary) and he gave us the best and most realistic version of Trek to date, wth the characters, although still remaining larger than life, feeling very real. I think Nick would write a bang up screenplay. All the scenes starting with "Judging by the polution content in the atmospher, I believe we are in the latter half of the 20th century" to when they first come back out of time warp in the future with the Whales in Star Trek 4 is all him. And I think that film was the biggest money maker of that year beating out Aliens and even Top Gun.

New writers are a must for either a sequel or a re-start. The same goes for the Director.
