Chapter 41 - “Eris Quod Sum” – Discussion Thread 10/27/08

Seemed like a good episode to me as well. Syler yah he's a crazy bastered.

Edit;

Peter needs to learn kung-fu to defend himself the old human way.

I turned my head and missed what happened. What was the scene before Hiro Isaaced out?

Tracey and Nathan talking about Pinehearst I believe...and then Ando freaking out about Hiro going unconcsious.

Nothing, just Ando standing over him asking if he was going to be okay.

I really wish they had Elle go with Claire and Peter instead of running inside pineherst. I dont want her to be depowered and go away.

He did the first two seasons, why not now?

Mohinder and Matt seem to be the only remaining season one characters who are not related to the Petrelli family through some six degrees of Kevin Bacon way.

So Daphne + Matt already? Wow. How is Tracy connected to Pinehearst?

Watch Matt will be one by next Volume bum, bum, bum :whatever:

Well Matt is somewhat related to the Petrelli family. His father was one of the 12 and was working for Arthur. Mohinder is the only one who had no ties to any of the charecters.

The episode in two weeks looks great. I love the flashback episodes that flesh out peoples motivations and why they chose the current paths they're on.

I usually think of them as lazy writing. The first one was cool because it was unique for a show to do that and there was a lot of mystery. The second one did nothing except waste a week that could've been used to further the plot while revealing motivations in the present. At this point it just feels like filler.

Agreed. I have a strong feeling the next episode will add more depth to Volume 3...how could it not?

Perhaps the next episode is the one we've been waiting for to give Volume 3 it's proper momentum.

lol I don't even wanna watch the next episode. Apparently Sylar met Elle before they got all...yea.

Yah, flashbacks. I think I heard Hiro goes back in time and finds info on Arthur.

I disagree. I think the flashback episodes are necessary, especially in a show like this because there's so much that has happened in the past that we desperately need to know about.

Like what really happened to Arthur, what were the circumstances of Claire being given to HRG and Sylar and Elle together!!

I love the flashback episodes. Meredith as a Company agent really intrigues me though!

True. I would've preferred another way of looking at the backstories, something akin to Company Man.

Yea of course Hiro saves the day since it is mostly his fault.

He basically gave Pinehearst the formula and Arthur Petrelli at full force.

And as Sage pointed out, there are better ways to reveal backstory. Many shows have complex backstories. Most do not do flashback episodes every season.

The flashbacks could be sprinkled in each episode as opposed to an entire one dedicated to them. It could be what Heroes needs to plug up the dull moments of the show.

That would be totally ripping off Lost story telling.

Gugh. I just wish they could hit a big reset button. This season IMO is making season 2 look like genius storytelling.
