Family Comedy Starring Chevy Chase & Beverly D’Angelo Produced By Aaron Kaplan Gets ABC Production Commitment
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

While New Line’s Vacation reboot has been put on hold, the stars of the hit feature comedy franchise Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are reuniting for a TV comedy project, which has received a production commitment by ABC. They again will play a married couple, this time raising grandchildren. The single-camera comedy, which is looking for a writer and has not been set up at a studio yet, is eyed for the 2015-16 development season. Based on an original idea by Aaron Kaplan, who executive produces through his Kapital Entertainment, the untitled single-camera comedy would star Chase and D’Angelo as spouses in their 60s who are finally enjoying their golden years. They have raised their daughter, who is grown and now lives on the other side of the country with her two kids — and that’s the way these selfish grandparents like it; now they only need to see their grandkids a couple of times a year. But, due to circumstances beyond their control, they now are forced to raise their grandchildren.

Kaplan, a big fan of the Vacation franchise, approached D’Angelo with the idea. She came on board and reached out to Chase, who also signed on. The pitch was taken to ABC, which jumped on it immediately, starting a lengthy deal-making process. For Chase, this would mark a return to series television after his run on NBC’s Community was cut short last season. D’Angelo is with ICM Partners; Chase is with Paradigm and Eric Kritzer. Kaplan has another high-profile project at ABC — the drama Secrets & Lies, which has a 10-episode commitment and is casting. He also executive produces ABC’s sophomore comedy series The Neighbors.
Ought to be interesting considering how Chase's last TV gig turned out.

I hope it has some the Lampoon comedy flavor in it.

Why is this not basically the Griswolds TV show?

As for Chevy Chase being a "giant turd," quite probably, yes. But I don't blame him for Community. It was a bad fit for him and he certainly was difficult, but Harmon was just as much to blame.

I was hoping for Griswolds tv show too,Sounds interesting though

He's he going to have a ***** fit and quit this, too?

Yeah. Giant Turd vs. Big Petulant Baby is never a good mix.

Ed Oxenbould, the young star of Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, has been cast in ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot Chev & Bev, from Brad Copeland, Kapital Entertainment and ABC Studios. It stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo as two baby boomers who are fun, relevant and living a selfish retirement when their world is turned upside down and they are suddenly left to raise their grandchildren. Australia-born Oxenbould, repped by Coast to Coast, ICM Talent, Industry Entertainment and Australia’s Sophie Jermyn Management, plays the oldest of the three grandchildren, a nerdy handsome amateur magician. He next stars in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit.

Surprised this one doesn't seem to be happening.

Or that TV Land doesn't scoop it up.
