This has been on the front page of the papers here in the city all day today.

Even if the bartender was a dude and was being beat up I figure I would attempt to do something, but the fact that it was a 250+ lb veteran cop is probably what made people wary about taking him on.

I can't believe nobody did anything. It's like the Seinfeld finale...

i saw this lastnight on a mexican newstation..i had no idea he was beating up a woman. He should be put in jail for a long time.I dont give a crap how big he was..those customers should have did something when he touched her the first time..gutless cowards

^They say the bar is where a lot of cops frequent, so they weren't about to go against one of their own.

It's the bystander effect. Everyone expected someone else to do something.

or maybe bc he was a cop people didnt want to get arrested

^That's what most people said, because if you seriously hurt him, regardless of what he was doing, they'd be on your ass in a heartbeat. Granted, it would be the right thing to do, but you'd pay for it ultimately. We can call it cowardice, but talk is cheap.

I'd like to think, especially with a little liquid courage in me, that I would have done something.

Those people should be ashamed of being so spineless that they let an innocent person be beaten because of their own fears of pursecution.

what if the cop was like "this is police business" then you're up the proverbial creek

that is despicable. those bastards just started walking away wtf. the guy aint even that big, fat maybe but even I can kick his ass. ****er

People are such *****es these days. If this had been the Mid 90's or 80's that fat b**ch would have been eating a whskey glass. No matter if he was a cop or not.

What is wrong with people. You don't hit a woman. Nuff Said!

Unless she burned the roast. Then she had it coming.

ok, i just read the article.

he was wearing a bears jersey. Im sorry i dont care how big the guy is, you make him stop.

Well, one good thing to come of this she will be one rich bartender when all is said and done. The chicago pd and city of Chicago will have to pony up big time for this cops idiotic and barbaric behavior.

Reading this article outraged me that nobody did anything, but I wasn't there so I can't really say anything bad about the people that were there...it's easy to sit here in L.A. and say "Yeah, I would have helped her", I would like th think that I would at the very least I would have tried to get the guy off her or at least picked up a chair and hit the guy with it, but I wasn't there so.........

When keepin it real goes wrong.
"The bartender tells him he's had enough to drink. But in his drunken state, instead of simply walking away, which in his eyes makes him look like a punk, he decides to keep it real."

Damn, all this because she wouldn't give him anymore drinks? I bet he was going "No ***** is gonna tell me what to do"; and to make it worse someone came in after it was over and tried to bribe her with money if she didn't tell.

What I thought was really crazy, was how after she was getting beat she got right back up again.

Not that I would be all biased about it since I don't drink, but some mother****ers can't handle their liquor, that's all that is.

No one didn't want to interfere maybe...Because it was a COP, a 6'1", 250lb COP, possibly armed too...

No kidding. She got punched in the head like 10 times, thrown around the bar like a rag doll, & her hair pulled. She still got up like nothing happened!:wow:

If I was in that bar, that is when I would run. She is one tough woman, & probably pissed off nobody helped her.

I'm not the type of person who breaks up fights. I'm the type of person who watches them, and looks for someone who is taking bets on them

if it was a male beating up a smaller male i wouldn't interfeer. So to be PC when a dude is beating on a chick, I can't interfeer

I think when people see a dude getting beat up by another dude or by a girl, they assume the guy deserved it. Though in reverse, we immediately step in.
