Chinese Box Office Aims to Push Black Panther Past $1 Billion

This thread would be more appropriate for the BP forums section of the site instead of the general Marvel movies section.

On another note I should point out: BP doesn't need China to reach that billion dollar finish line like Transformers or even Fast 8 did. Here's a perfect recent example: Look at The Last Jedi, which was an utter disaster at the Chinese box office, but it still made a billion. Black Panther actually has better holdovers than Jedi at the domestic box office (it has the best second weekend after only Force Awakens and trounced TLJ's second weekend) and it's done quite well in almost every other international market, even surprisingly well in another similarly homogeneous East Asian country.

Don't get me wrong: I'm in no way insinuating BP will have the same extremely lackluster-to-bad performance as Jedi had in China (Marvel is the biggest Hollywood brand in China-they love Marvel films, so the brand should salvage BP's box office somewhat in that territory) but I totally expect it to have a more sub-par box office than the usual Marvel film. The movie has zero chance of doing Avengers numbers there, but I'm expecting a so-so, modest, box office(think Ant-Man numbers). Of course, I'm always open to being pleasantly surprised but I still remain skeptical on whether the movie will take off in the Middle Kingdom.
