Hi! These are some of my (somewhat) finished redesigns of various comics characters. Comments and, especially, critiques are welcome.

Ulysses Klaw, thief and war profiteer, the only one who stole vibranium from Wakanda and lived to talk about it. After trying to bring mercenaries and some Wakandan traitors in an attempt overthrow the Wakandan government and raze their tech, the ensuing fight resulted in death of the most of the royal family and Klaw lost his arm when he confronted the last surviving member of the royal family. After his escape, he modified the sonic drill used for the excavation of vibranium and fashioned it into prosthetic arm. The vibranium parts within the arm and the botched integration into his body caused him to suffer severe metal poisoning and the deterioration of his body, so he has to wear special suit with vibranium weave, similar to Black Panther's suit, that will keep him alive. Now he is both dying from and being kept alive by the material he coveted so much. He will forever be bonded to it.

One more flying menace terrorizes the city of New York. Mad Jack, Jack O'Lantern are some terms people usually use to describe him. Some of his targets are rich and influential people like investor Jason Philip Macendale Jr., head of Berhard Bank International, Daniel Berkhart and diplomat Ned Leeds Sr., among others. Police seems unable to find the identity of the villain. Supernatural apparition akin to Ghost Rider? A demon? Many citizens do believe this (unsurprisingly, considering everything that happened in recent years) as there are reports that he was seen at multiple places at once and that he seems to be able to vanish into thin air. Police dismisses this, however, as "hear say". Or are his powers the result of clever use of technology? According to the assumption of J. Jonah Jameson of Daily Bugle, "just some trendy idiots that entered that stupid ("Goblin") club or cult or whatever you wanna call it and now they act as bullies! This must be stopped! Where is the *** police when you need them". Or is "his" story something much, much simpler...

Ohhhhhhh
These are really cool.

Thanks, man!

Just for you:

There were rumors that beneath all the good work Cadmus Laboratories have done there are something far weirder going on. Experiments with alien DNA, half-human hybrids, metahuman soldiers and all sorts of other conspiracies, depending which media are trying to report on it. Set up by Luthor, Rudy Jones was the perfect candidate to infiltrate Cadmus facilities. He was an asocial thug with almost no past, spending most of his life doing low paying menial jobs. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, no regular friends, no immediate family, no interested cousins, nobody was worried about poor, old Rudy Jones. He was nobody, nothing. He got the job as a janitor, he was working as he always did, disinterested about anything. He didn't know all was a setup, he wasn't aware that he was a pion. A walking plausible deniability. When the plan was put to motion, the "accident" was arranged and Rudy got changed. After a week or so of painful mutation, his body was able to absorb and store energy of other living beings. Firstly, he "fed" on stray dogs, and as time went by, he got a taste of people. And then, he realized, not only was he able to absorb the strength and life energy, but also intelligence. And then, he realized that, all this time of his transformation, he was being watched. He realized that he was just a guinea pig. He went back to Cadmus, massacred people, killed scientists, fulfilling his vengeance. This attracted the Man of Steel and it was the turning point for poor, old Rudy Jones. He tasted Kryptonian strength, he realized that he is not just a failed mutant experiment but that he could be a god. As far as Rudy was considered, he killed people responsible for his fate, he accepted his gift, he relished the fact that he become a major player. As for Luthor.. Well, he was never there, his name is in no way traceable to Rudy.. He didn't get the sample he wanted, but he got something way, way better...

shocker_redesign_by_blastattak-dbrl1y2.jpg

Herman Schultz had a bad life. Although he is a talented mechanic and has a knack for engineering, he was never able to accomplish anything thanks to his dysfunctional childhood. If only he had better family he might have been one of best engineers in the business. Or, maybe, if he just made different decisions.... All of his gear is made from scratch, using spare parts of various machinery he was able to acquire in various ways. Growing as a member of various gangs, he learned that if you want to survive you must be cruel and blunt. He wanted to be more than just a gangbanger, so he allied himself with various villains trying to get to the top. He was never been taken seriously by any of his allies and he was always relegated to just a thug role. Being screwed over by his "friends" and the lack of funding for construction of better equipment led him to jail many times. He could have been working for Stark Industries, just like Parker, but, now, he is stuck in the endless cycle of chasing his big score that will put him on a map as a real supervillain...

mysterio_redesign_by_blastattak-dcv5dz9.jpg

Mysterio's story is a simple one. A tale of vengeance and madness... Quentin Beck, simple man, good at his job as an effects artist but with hight ambitions. After a streak of misfortunes and the folding of his SFX company, he turned to small crime using his practical knowledge of trickery. It didn't last as he was apprehended by Spider-Man. Years latter, a new villain entered the scene. Seemingly, he knew everything about Spider-Man, always appearing somewhere within the eyesight of our friendly neighbor. At first he was just there, in the background, seen for a split of a second. And then, Peter's family started to see him. And then, the madness begun...

Dude, these designs are great! I'm a stickler for the classics, but these are very well done! Photoshop, or what? Love to know the medium.

Thanks.
Yeah, I'm a stickler for classics too, but they do get repetitive. Most of classic costumes are just spandex in different colors, so I like to try to make them more distinct.
Photoshop and an old Genius tablet.

Have you ever done any MOTU character designs? Like trap jaw perhaps?
I’d love to see that :D
