Congrats on the guy if he gets the role.

    My observation:
    - Thor is a role-intensive Marvel movie. Of the top of my head, I see around 8 roles (Odin, Sif, Loki, 3 dudes, Karnilla, Heimdall, Balder) need to be filled outside of Thor. So can we have unnamed Aussies filled in this role too except for the 1st three on my list - perhaps his Home & Away costars? I'm sure they cost cheaper than Americans or British. If you can't get Aussies, get Canadians.
    - I hope they get a named actor for Odin. Perhaps Loki too.
    - Portman can't be Sif because 1- she's significantly older than Hemsworth, 2- she's too short, 3- she might cost a wee bit of money when imports alternative are more cost effective.

IMO as well. He was great as Kirk's father. Could this guy be the next Hugh Jackman?

If by Portman you mean Natalie Portman, she's only older by two years.

BTW, Marvel is nuts having too many blonds in the Avengers (Thor, Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, Hank Pym). I hope audiences will not have trouble in identifying them.

And she still looks like she is like 22 to 23 years old sometimes. They both look around the same age as they are around the same age.

But she doesn't look young anymore. Look at Star Wars Ep II & III.

If you still don't like that explanation go with the 2nd reason - she's short.

Hawkeye isn't confirmed, and they can always make Hank Pym brown-haired.

Is it confirmed that Hawkeye will be in the Avengers movie?

Even if he is there is no guarantee he'll be blond...after all Fury is black now. A different hair color isn't so radical.

I've got to say no to Natalie Portman as Sif. Too darn short. All the camera angles & special effects in the world can't make her look like a towering Asgardian warrior woman, and she honestly doesn't come across as a rough & tumble fighter personality wise in any of her performances.

Yeah I think they go with a different hair color for either roles. I don't know what was in Stan Lee's or past Marvel heads mind of having too many blonds in a team. Do they know a thing about contrast? Or they just want to anti-DC comics themselves.

Well, yeah I've only heard Lantern rumors. I'm sure he'll have his hands full with Trek anyway.

I wouldn't be opposed to him getting the role though.

    I like his look.

I'm guessing if he probably went through an extensive casting process, and considering who is behind the camera for this film, he must have some good acting chops.

Its always great to have a mix of unknowns with big stars. Dealing an unknown as Thor i think is a good move. Nobody REALLY knows the character well, so it wont be that the star is over taking the character, it can be just a process to learn and get to know the character as the movie progress without any other distractions from who is playing him.

Yeah but IF they go with a relative unknown for Cap, which they probably won't but if they do... then you are losing depth to your cast. And if Norton does not return then you are really in a bind in terms of putting out that all-star cast. Going with an unknown like Hemsworth means they have to do whatever they can to lock up Norton for Avengers. And they also should bring in a recognizable actor for Pym. Especially if the character is pure comic relief; get a big named funny man for the role.

    Wow.

I go away for one day, and something like this happens.

I liked the guy in the Star Trek opening, and altough I never seen him acting in anything besides ST, there's this gut feeling telling me he'll do a fine job. Sure I'd love if Skars could get the role, but I trust Branagh's decision.

Besides that, it seems like Hemsworth is gonna bring a lot of chicks to the theaters on looks alone. :woot: If he can act the part (and I trust he can), then we'll have a fine movie.

Yeah you figure... get a pretty boy like what Orlando Bloom was to those respective franchises and the chicks will come. RDJ/Norton for the older women. Wonder if they go the same route with Cap.

I bet they will! RDJ, Sam Jackson and Norton for the guys, Thor and Cap for the chicks...
