Chris Terrio to Script Justice League

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros hosts its Comic-Con panel tomorrow morning where Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is expected to be front and center, but here’s a morsel to nibble on today. I’m hearing that after he absolutely crushed the script on that film, Oscar-winning Argo scribe Chris Terrio is being courted by the studio to come aboard and script its Justice League movie. That superhero mash-up will be DC Comics‘ answer to Marvel’s Avengers juggernaut. Not that well known prior to Argo, Terrio has fast become an A-list scribe, and a favorite of writer-directors. He’s got Bunker Hill with Ben Affleck, and The Foreigner, among several big pics. Terrio’s repped by WME.

If this is true. I'm all for it.

Bringing this thread back, after a discussion in the replace Snyder thread.

I remember that after MOS many of Snyder's fans where really quick to use Goyer as the scapegoat for the movie's flaws. The mantra that if Snyder had a better writer,he could make a better movie devolped. Then Terrio came on board fresh off of Argo, and everyone got excited that Goyer was finally gone. But then BVS happened......

So what are your guys's thoughts on Terrio now? Did Snyder butcher Terrio's script by forcing 'cool moments', and JL cameos. Or does he share blame as well? A glaring one to me is Snyder forcing the Knightmare sequence in the movie in the middle of shooting.

My question is how do you feel about Terrio as Justice league's writer now?
Or does it not matter at all if Snyder remains director.

Well....certaing Goyer did write parts BVS either with or without Terrio, my real concern is Snyder really so i feel normal with Terrio as JL writer although a bit worried.

What Terrio said about Justice League in a Wall Street Journal interview before Batman v Superman was released.
I expect “Justice League” will be tonally not quite as dark as “Batman v Superman". From that point of view, I felt compelled to go back and try to lift us and myself into a different tonal place because I think when you write a darker film, sometimes you want to redeem it all a bit.

I'm still fine with him as writer.

It's hard to know if it was Terrio or Snyder who was responsible for holding off the action for so long. Or for making Lois and her 'bullet' evidence stretched out over a lot of the movie. Or for not making a hugely convincing reason for Batman and Superman to fight, leaving it to a kidnapped Martha to force Superman's hand. Or for the heavy-handed religious analogies. Etc. etc.

Well the story structure was definitely Goyer.

It's difficult to pinpoint whether it was Goyer or Terrio or both to blame for BvS's shortcomings. There's speculation that Terrio may have been responsible for the pacing for the first half, and the rest was Goyer... Maybe it will be better that it will be Terrio on his own.

Isn't pacing the Directors responsibility?

Because the pacing issues in the first half of the film could've easily been fixed if Snyder let each scene breathe a bit, instead of action after action.

That's not the Snyder way. He has to prove his critics wrong by continuing his artistic process. :p

Chris Terrio worries me after BVS i feel like terrio is trying to be overly philosophical and trying to come across like some kind of historian with his research and someone who tries to act smarter than he is
says he studied red and blue shifts in electromagnetic physics to think about the Flash, investigated deep sea biology in the Mariana trench to create the world of Aquaman, and read the Greek historian Diodorus of Sicily’s account of the war between Amazon and Atlantis to better understand Wonder Woman.

newsflash Chris all your information is in the comics

War between Amazon and Atlantis sounds interesting.

It's concerning that the writer doesn't live and breath this stuff. But on the other hand Snyder does, so a distanced writer with Snyder filling in details about who these characters are could work.

i wonder if Affleck will actually be looking into the script this time around. According to a lot of interviews/reports he let Snyder do his thing and only touch up his Batman scenes. He was obviously displeased with BVS's reception, I wonder how much he'll be involved behind the scenes now.

If Terrio wrote in or suggested the "Martha" bit as the reason they stop fighting... that's a bit of a concern. I hope he was forced by Snyder to do that or something.

i'd say he absolutely will be/is heavily involved.

To be honest he should have done that from the moment he was involved in this verse, he has spent years building his reputation again and shouldn't have taken any risk as Snyder is not a reliable individual.

Affleck may hold some amount of responsible (ok not as much as Snyder) for all we know, and distanced himself when seeing BvS wouldn't be as good as hoped.

i'm sure he agrees with you.

So lets call an oscar winning guy not smart because his rewrite of a script previously done by goyer was made into a bad movie.

I just hope this time around someone doesn't allow Snyder to put in random ideas not in the original script. Like the nightmare scene.

The Martha scene was a stroke of genius. Both their mothers are Martha and they stop fighting. Too good. That would stop Batman from fighting.
