Christopher Nolan's Inception (Thread II)

If Inception doesn't win best picture then I dont even know what to say...

The Academy is actually a group of projections and we're all in a dream.
BWOMMMM

I think "Inception" has a decent shot at winning. The only other movies that are really generating the most "Best Picture" buzz are "The Social Network", "The King's Speech" and "The Kids Are All Right". I feel like "Inception" has a shot at beating those, with "The Social Network" being its major competition. Sure, there are others like "Black Swan" and "127 Hours", but "Inception" probably has a better chance than they do from the get-go.

Do people REALLY think Inception is gonna win at either Golden globes or OScars...

If anything, Social NEtwork will bring it home before Inception...

Well, considering that the Globes like to give nominations and awards to popular films/actors (that's how Avatar won there last year, and how Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie got nominated this year), I could easily see it winning there.

The Oscars is different, but it is still in the running. I still don't think it's a slam dunk for any film yet. With a lot of good films trying to win the top award, you may not need a huge number of votes to come out on top.

I hope not. "Inception" was a much better film than "The Social Network". And I'm not being a Nolan fanboy, either. It's the truth.

While I'm sure Avatar did win the golden globe based mostly on popularity, I still think it had some merit in and of itself. I mean if hype is all that matters why didnt TDK win?

Inception is wayy ****ing better than TSN. Give me a solid good reason why it wont win?
Better start thinking of what to say then.
No, I shouldnt

Thank you!

Arthur explains to Ariadne that no one can touch your own totem, so that when you touch it, you know you're not in someone else's dream. Saito not only grabs Cobb's but spins it at the end. Wouldn't this cause some sort of problem?

They were in limbo at the time.

Inception has 0 chance of winning Best Picture. Just accept it before you get all sad when The Social Network wins.

I agree with the first sentence though I would've put it in a nicer way. I see this going between The Social Network and Pure Oscar Bait The King's Speech.

Yeah, The King's Speech doesn't interest me at all. It's one of the films that will get some Oscar buzz, then be completely forgotten in a couple years, unlike Inception, TSN, Black Swan, etc.

TSN itself feels different. Its a great film that never gets real heavy in terms of mood and tone and is still fascinating.

Before I can say which film is better between Inception and TSN I have to see TSN again. I only saw it once. I wanted to see it again but I was buried with classwork at the time.

I'd like to see The King's Speech, but that's because I have a bad stutter too and I recognized some of the exercises in the trailers. :funny: It seems well-done, but yeah, not all that memorable.

So as long as they know, it's okay?
Limbo isn't "someone else's dream," it's everybody's dream.

Besides, if Saito were to use the totem against Cobb, he would have made it fall, not let it keep on spinning. :oldrazz: The danger is if someone is able to make it seem like you were in reality when you were not.

It'd be pretty cool if Social Network wins considering it's not an Oscar bait movie. I enjoyed Inception more, but I know they don't want to give it to an action movie so I'm cool with it.

Yeah... those hoping for Inception to win Best Picture are only setting themselves up for disapointment. It'll definitely by nominated for the sake of buzz and for not nominating TDK and Nolan, but it won't win.
