What is your favorite book by Chuck? i am going to go pick up Snuff today, but my favorite so far is rant. i liked how effed up everything was.

snuff is out already? wow i need to finish rant still.

My favorite book by him is Choke. The dramedy was perfect. Victor was a great protagonist. Really great twists. It has all the makings of some crazy epic scifi/fantasy and then it wasnt which worked much better than that sounds.

Rant gave me trouble. I was reading it and then all of a sudden a character I thought was a man ended up being a woman so I shelved to return one day, considering hes making a Rant trilogy. The idea was really interesting and different and I applaud Chuck for doing so but it had none of his charm. THe changing of the narrative voice lost a lot of the appeal a Palahniuk book has.

Snuff has me completely uninterested. It sounds like its being perverted for the sake of being perverted. usually I dont care about these types of things but it seems like a story worked around perversion rather than perversion worked into a story.

Tried reading Fight Club. Didn't really care for it. Loved the movie, but the Book was just off for some reason.

I really liked Choke as well.
Lullaby might be my favorite...anyone read that one?

What I have read
Choke, Lullaby, Invisible Monsters and Fight Club
sounds like I have some catching up to do!

I have Fight Club...havent read it yet. Got way too much stuff on my to read list right now...

so far snuff is amazing.

Thats not what I meant. I thought the character was a man but it turned out to be a woman which means I missed something when I was reading so I stopped reading it moved on to a new book and planned on revisiting rant with a fresh start.

oh you must be talking about echo lawrence

well she did say in it how she was a a birthing mother who would go around to families and such.

But when I started there was no gender implied but because she was so platonically close to Rant I figured Echo was a man since friends at that age tend to be same sex.

obviously u didnt read far enough because echo doesnt meet rant until about a third of the book in, she is quoted and such, but the story of how she met isnt until he goes to the city.

and i dont mean to sound like a douc**bag

no ididnt read far at all because I got confused and I was losing interest. Ihope to have it done as soon as I finish some other books. The same happened with the Dark Tower series. i just lost interest and set it aside so I can come at it again later.

i wish you only the best in your journey through literature.

Survivor wasnt mentioned yet. It was my first CP-book and also one of his best imo. My absolute favourite is Lullaby though, it feels like a wierd dream transformed to letters.

survivor is pretty amazing, i love the lobster part.

ha yeah, there is a lot to learn from that book :funny:

Mine's a tie between Survivor and Invisible Monsters.

Rant disappointed me as well as The Haunted. I tried reading Fight Club, but can't get the movie out of my head. I wish I read the book first because I know it's better than the film. Speaking of films, I'm very excited for Choke. I still need to see the trailer.

the trailer is ****ing amazing. check Misc. Films Forum.

everything this man writes is genius... he is easily my favorite author of all time. just the way he puts his words and ideas together is flawless.

his favorite book of mine is probably a toss up between choke, fight club, survivor, and invisible monsters.

the man is a forking genius, though. seriously.

has anyone actually read diary?
i have heard a few people cant get into it.
i am one of them.

i've heard a lot about that man and his work. i saw a girl reading haunted at a smoothie counter and told me it's good so far, however, she's read everything by the author and says all of his stuff is pretty good.

so might pick up one or two on my next trip to the bookstore.

it's not my favorite, and the end failed to pay off as big as the story led me to believe it would... but it was still a damn enjoyable book.
