Which did you prefer? Annhilation's pretty much over and Civil War will be basically done this month, so...

Annihilation, easily. I didn't read most of Civil War, though, so it might've been good. But I doubt it.

Civil War.

I enjoyed both, but CW had me slipping out of work early to be at the shop when it opens to get each installment, which is something that Annihilation didnt do for me.

Again; BOTh were surprisingly entertaining though (assuming CW #7 is as good as preceding issues).

I've got to go with Annihilation. Civil War's been pretty good, but it just seems a bit too rushed for me. That and Annihilation being more self-contained (and the fact that I'm a fan of Marvel's cosmics) push it ahead of CW IMO.

Annihilation, however it's not fair to judge when CW hasn't ended yet.

[noob]Annihilation would win every time because it used prep time to set itself up and you could see that it had dynamic strength because the further it went Nova got angrier and it was stronger in the end.[/noob]:yellow:

Going to go with CW,only because I have no interest in Marvel's cosmic division.

I read the issues straight through a couple weeks ago, they all hold up pretty well. But of course,in a story like this, the ending is going to make or break the story.

We'll see in 2 weeks time.

That might be due to a lot of hype and advertising

I'm a huge Millar fan,but I'm not going to looking back 10 yrs from at how "great" CW was.

Alot of times it feels like, and is probably so,writing with alot of editorial constraints.

This isn't the same Millar-type stuff which really knocked socks like Ultimate Fantastic Four,Ultimates,Authority and Wolvie.

Annhilation hands down.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy CW, but Annihilation just portrayed a story about Superhero's doing heroic things far better than CW did. CW felt more political and made some heroes feel anything but heroic, while Annihilation pushed enemies to put their differences aside and fight, and redifined some characters to be better than they were before.

Not to count Annihilation changed far more than CW. CW's event can slowly be undone, or only have lasting changes (some we won't like) that only last a few years. Anniliation has some permanent changes that can't be undone, and overall had a satisfying ending.

I've heard Annihilation was super, but alas, my budgetary constraints wouldn't allow me to pick it up in the single issue format. I'll buy the trade, though...

As for Civil War, I've kind of enjoyed it, but at the same time I like the idea of a big event mini being a bit more self-contained, like someone else said. It seems like Civil War proper contains all of the "headlines" of the event - enough for you to get by knowing what happens and all of that jazz, but if you want the "fine print" you need to check out some of the other tie-ins. It's something that frustrated me about House of M, too.

I like Civil War, but Annihilation was easily the better story. I dont even like any of the cosmic marvel characters, but this is the better tale and accurate characization. Thats the thing about CW, its a pretty good basis IMO and would be a much better story if the pro-regs were portrayed as human rather than soulless *******s.

Pro-regs have a very valid point. If we actually lived in the 616, chances are, we would all agree with it. So instead of balancing the scales, Millar just said "screw bushland."

CIVIL WAR isn't done yet, but I'm going to say ANNIHILATION by far. It was a great, old fashioned story that was unashamed of the roots of superhero comics. Every character that survived became stronger, through either revisionings or amped up powers. The art was great and the writing solid. You don't see the writers on Newsarama after every issue defending stuff from barrages of criticisms, vs. every damned issue of CW. Annihilation, easily.

i think i'll hold my tongue until civil war is finished. seems more fair that way.

Annihilation. Nothing in CW #7 is going to make me change my mind on that one.

I considering doing this but then I remembered that ANNIHILATION, while a smaller event, never disappointed me. CIVIL WAR has at times disappointed me plenty. Not even a wonderful finish and furtile ground for 2007 can change that. So my vote fits.

I've enjoyed Civil War, as a whole. The book itself has been oh so disappointing however. I mean, each issue lacks any real substance IMO since everything in the book is shown about 3 times in different books each one shown differently than the other. I've enjoyed Frontline and the tie-ins a lot more than I have CW proper.

Substance in a universe-wide crossover?Nonsense!

It's not over yet! We don't know! Whatever happens in Civil War #7 could blow Annihilation right out of the water! We don't know...

...ppphahahahahHAHAHAHAsorry.

"Annihilation" just flows better. It's epic, and readable, while "Civil War" and all its tie-ins have been kind of inconsistent.
