The human offspring of the gods were heroes. Their fellow pantheon offspring were NOT! The Argonauts are the best example because some of them were the direct offspring of Zeus, half-siblings of Hercules. But they weren't divine. Icarus, Ares, Pan, Hephaestus, etc. were not heroes.

Greek tragedies, like Oedipus Rex and Antigone, speak much about the human condition but the main characters were NOT divine.

Oh okay.

If I have to be honest.... this looks awful.

But I got another question?....Can Posedion or whatever his name is, beat Hercules?

Their children may be heroes and strong but you're talking about gods here. They can own just about all.

הרקולס הוא בחור מדהים יוונית. הוא היכה את המדוזה! היא מזכירה לי את דודה שלי יהודי מכוער

Feel free to type in english so we can actually understand you.

I dunno, Hercules did eventually become the god of strength after he died. While Poseidon is arguably the most powerful Olympian, with oceans, tsunamis & earthquakes at his disPosal, Herc's a guy who performed impossible feats like holding up the sky and dragging a monster out of hell while in human form. The powers he had as a mortal on Earth would only increase upon achieving immortality.

See, now that's what I would love to see in a big budget Hercules film. The trial where Atlas ends up tricking him temporarily.

True, and he used his wits to work out most of those labors. The Nemean Lion had an impregnable hide so Herc clubbed/strangled it to death instead of using a sword or arrows. He burned the Hydra necks after decapitating them to keep 'em from growing back. He rerouted rivers to clean Augeas' stables in a day.

I could totally see him beating Poseidon in a fight.

Could you imagine how nasty they could make that look on film? I remember some of the descriptions in the books. :barf:

Hercules is the half-blood. Poseidon is a god. He can have an entire ocean fall on Hercules at a very fast speed.

Yeah, Hercules didn't ascend to godhood until his death, and he's also half-human. Despite the fact that Hercules is physically strong, Poseidon can defeat him easily, unless Hercules can conquer the oceans.

I honestly don't know why so many people defend the old Clash of the Titans. There's no denying the fantastic quality of the special effects but besides that point the overall movie is just plain not that good. This new one looks like it is going to be how the original was first envisioned and its going to be fantastic.

So the ones who are alive do not become Gods until they die?

Well, Hercules was born a mortal, but he was only given the status of a god after he died. There were other children siren from a god and a mortal women, but I think only Hercules were given this special privilege due to the legendary feats he accomplished when he was alive.
