Classic Rock Appreciation Thread

I consider them more Folk Rock. There are some on your list that I'm not too great a fan of. I prefer the hard-rockin' classic rock but there are exceptions, of course.

While I don't mind a lot of the hard rock, and even love much of it, I almost prefer the more folky entries in classic rock canon.

It just a matter of preference. But I do enjoy Mrs. Robinson and Cecilia very much.

Well, people consider Dylan folk rock, and Dylan is played all the time on classic rock stations.

By the way, did Tommy James and the Shondells ever do anything worth listening to besides Crimson and Clover?

That's coz they still considered "rock" and "classic" defines and era. Classic rock isn't limited to Hard Rock, hence...

I Think We're Alone
Crystal Blue Persuasion (my personal favorite)
Mony Mony (though Billy Idol's version blows it out of the water)
Hanky Panky
Mirage
Gettin' Together
Draggin' The Line (Tommy James solo number)
Ball Of Fire
Sweet Cherry Wine
Three Times In Love (Tommy James solo number)

The only other songs I can think of by then are I Think We Are Alone Now, and Mony Mony.

Yeah, it's one of the few covers I consider better than the original.

Old Friends / Bookends is one of the best songs ever made, and the best song they ever did IMO.

How about Jimi Hendrix's versoon of "All Along The Watchtower"?

I actually really like Dylan's version, but I suppose I DO like Hendrix's more.

That one too. I also prefer Guns 'N' Roses' version of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" to the original version as well.

Bob Dylan changed the way he performed it after he heard the Jimi Hendrix version. I have never heard the original Bob Dylan version.

I do as well.

EWWww, they ruined it in my opinion.
Their version sounds so cheesy especially with the telephone call.
Completely out of place and pointless.
