Clemson students apologize for gang-themed party

CLEMSON, S.C. - More than a dozen Clemson University students apologized at an emotional campus meeting for a gang-themed party many criticized as racist after photos emerged showing a white person wearing blackface, school officials said.

The university organized the meeting, allowing 15 partygoers to stand up one by one and express remorse in front of about 200 people.
"Some people really recognized the courage that it took," said Gail DiSabatino, vice president for student affairs. There was discussion, tears, "and eventually there was hugging," she said.

Some of the students had a "gansta party" That some African Americans took as an offense. The students involved have apologized.

Yeah, this was in the chicago sun-times earlier. Some of the people in the NAACP were saying that basically white kids don't know any better as that's all they see as far as the media, so you can't really blame them. I know white guys that do the whole "act like a gangsta thug" thing all the time, and I'm sure they think it's hilarious, but if it gets a little much, I'll let them know what's up. When it becomes straight insulting.
