Can't believe there isn't a thread for this yet.

His hiring is probably the most exciting thing about this movie for me. After Solaris, Drive, Contagion and The Knick I can't wait to see what he'll bring to a comic book movie.

I'm a little disappointed Marco Beltrami won't be able to further develop what he started in The Wolverine, but it's nice to get some new blood in the genre.

Fantastic. I have always wanted him to score a Spidey film, but this is great news. One of the best and most imaginative guys in his field. Looking forward to this.

wonder what he will come up with since alot of his recent scores are very 80's synth-pop like Drive,Only God Forgives,The Neon Demon ,The Knick which dont seem to fit with the gritty western vibe of Logan

curious on what he will do

Would have loved to hear Marco Beltrami's score.

Damn it. I figured something like this was going to happen. Martinez was announced six months ago and there hadn't been any interviews with him or the filmmakers about the score, and his name wasn't featured on any promotional materials. I have a feeling that Rogue One started a trend of dismissing out-of-the-box choices and going with the safe option. Martinez has never scored a movie like this before, and maybe the suits wanted a more familiar approach to the music.

I have to say, though, like with Rogue One and Alexandre Desplat, with Martinez gone so has a lot of my enthusiasm. I'm sure Beltrami will craft a solid score, but this film is feeling much less exotic and edgy than it first appeared. I didn't much care for The Wolverine, and now Logan feels more like a standard sequel than what Jackman & Mangold are promising. At least now we'll get to find out what Beltrami will do given the opportunity of a sequel. He didn't have a main thematic melody last time, hopefully he'll be able to come up with something in Logan.

I was right to be wary of Rogue One after Despot's dismissal because I did not like the finished film, so I'm going to be cautious of Logan now and wait for a general consensus among critics before deciding to see it. I'm sick of paying for movies I end up not enjoying.

I hope I didn't jinx it by started this thread. Beltrami's involvement was announced only ten days after I posted it.

Eh. I don't even know this Cliff dude. So yeah Marco Beltrami!

Have you seen Traffic, Solaris, The Lincoln Lawyer, Drive, Contagion, Arbitrage, Spring Breakers, The Company You Keep, Only God Forgives, The Knick, The Neon Demon or War Dogs? He composed all of those titles. He was also the drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers from '83-86.

His theme for The Wolverine was my favorite part of the movie. I especially loved the bits done with harmonica. Felt the most Wolverine to me.

I was ecstatic for Cliff, but Mangold does have a history of working with Beltrami, so it does make sense that he'd want to utilize him again. It would've been amazing to see what Cliff would do with a superhero flick like Logan though. I am bummed indeed.

I have only seen Solaris and Contagion.

Beltrami is great and I loved his themes in the previous film, though I'll admit I was might curious to hear what Cliff Martinez would do within this genre.

Any more bits of music? Or word on how the music plays in the film?

I loved Beltrami's work in The Wolverine, and I wondered if there is any carried over themes.

Would be really awesome to get a slow, weary, somber version of the Wolverine theme he did in 2013.

Beltrami's score was praised in some of the reviews, so I think we can look forward to it.

Whoa! Without any spoilers, of course, the soundtrack was amazing (as the movie! And I especially loved the music during the most tense scenes.

I could hear a few musical cues to The Wolverine soundtrack.

Overall it seemed very sound design-ish, which surprised me. At times it felt like Martinez still scored parts of it, so much so that I looked for his name in the credits. Very little of the rhythmic energy from The Wolverine was carried over. Still looking forward top hearing it on album, but I am a little disappointed.
