Clint Eastwood's Next is Gran Torino

I love the "Get the hell of my lawn" bit from the trailer. It's like the script writer reads Fark or something

I really loved this movie. Eastwood was just so damn fantastic and badass. Some of Asian actors were very stale, but Eastwood just carried the film. I loved the relationships he developed with the family and seeing his character progress in the film was seamless. Great effort by Eastwood.

I thought this was pretty dissapointing.

I thought the directing/writing set up a very simplistic plot. It was refreshing to see the kind of easy story but with great characters type of movie that seemed pretty prevalent in the 70s. No bells and whistles, just real human emotion mixed with grit. Unfortunately i think the dialogue and performances hinder that feeling immensely. Eastwood is the ultimate badass and will probably always be good. This time is no different but he was the only GOOD part about the movie. Most if not all of the supporting cast were very subpar, thus the awkward and sometimes cheesy dialogue comes off worse than it should have.

This almost strikes me as something better viewed as a comedy. A crotchety Clint Eastwood dealing with uppity ethnic stereotypes? Really?

Someone tell me...does he die at the end?

Yes and it's awesome. It was a great exit.

I just saw this movie, it was really damn good. I agree with some of the actors being a bit subpar, but they were hit and miss. Clint Eastwood is so unbelievably badass though it's easy to forgive.

This movie was supremely badass, and touching too? A badass-heartfelt-man movie. Also had a ton of forgotten racial slurs. Awesome.

Watch it.

My friend and I were discussing the film yesterday and we were talking about his prejudices. I had an idea of doing a globe traveling Clint Eastwood as the character from this film and visits all over the world. Christ, think of the comedy. Just imagine Eastwood in a cafe in France. Or somewhere in Germany.

Seriously, Dragon Lady is my new favorite racial slur. I didn't get zipper head though, anyone know what that means?

Gran Torino was #1 for the weekend, grossing around $29 Million over 3 days.

Awesome, this movie deserved it big time! This was my favorite movie of 2008 so far. In fact this might be my favorite Clint film to date.

I just don't get how Eastwood cause pick such bad, unconvincing actors, and I'm mostly talking about Tao here. Eastwood himself was really great, the story was interesting (although predictable), and had there been better acting on behalf of the Asian kid, this movie would be ranked higher in my book.

Still a solid film, though the direction was a little heavy-handed at times.

This was one of the most predictable movies I have seen in a long time. A racial slur every two minutes with a bigot that turns into a hero after he comes to understand the kids more. I like Eastwood and his acting was good in this and the story was okay but the terrible acting and dialogue pretty much ruined this movie for me. While watching this movie I felt that I had seen this exact movie several times before because I found myself predicting every move and alot of the dialogue. What ruined it more for me was how much this was critically acclaimed. I felt this was gonna be the best movie I've seen besides Slumdog Millionaire, Milk and the Wrestler and it wasn't...

I actually thought the actress that played Sue was worse, Tao wasn't too bad to me. I think Sue's problem though was that her dialogue was a little too much and forced. The scene that really showed this problem was when Sue was being harassed by the black guys and she started talking back.

i too expected great things from this and got something modestly interesting instead.

the supporting cast was yes, horrible. dont think clint cared much about casting.

I still liked the movie alot, just didnt meet the expectations the press set up for me.

I liked the girl as who played Sue. She did a good job IMO. "Dragon Lady" haha!

Tao, or Toad as I like to call him, was a little rough, but I he did ok. But I imagine getting good actors of that specific age and ethnicity might have been tough.

Very good movie, but I was a little disapointed. Like others have said, the supporting actors were weak.

Tau in particular was terrible. The part where
he is locked in Eastwood's basement while Eastwood goes off to confront the gang and he's crying/screaming
is some of the worst, most unconvincing acting I've ever seen. My friends and I were laughing.

I plan on seeing this tomorrow or possible Wednesday night.

I was wondering about the asian cast that everyone says had horrible acting. Were their voices typical Engrish or were they more(what I call)Americanized, to where they spoke perfect English without an Asian accent?

Tao has an accent the girl doesn't really show hers but its there.

amazing movie... VERY FUNNY!!!!

however... the asian kid CANNOT act to save his life. horrible acting from that kid.

but it was still a great movie.

I loved this film. Can anyone who's seen some of the other Oscar contender's (Milk, Frost/Nixon, etc) give me a comparison in terms of quality? I enjoyed this as much as I did Benjamin Button.

I'm not a big fan of Clint Eastwood's later works. Most of them are pretentious Oscar bait. Yet some how this movie turned out to be my favorite of the year. Great movie

i havent seen any of his previous films simply because they look like they're trying 100% to get an oscar.

watched a bit of million dollar baby and didnt feel like watching the rest.

this movie though, was very entertaining.
