Clooney has no 'Batman' regrets !

And take it bit more seriously.

I think he played a horrible Batman but the (2nd) best Bruce Wayne

He was completely horrible. As the movie was. Good for him if he doesn't care.

Clooney benefitted from all the marketing, in the summer of 1997 everyone knew his name. in the movie, he wisely plays everything as low-key as he possibly can, and lets Arnold and Uma stumble into the limelight. Very wise man.

Exactly!

Although it was a horrible movie, being in Batman gets you noticed.

Quite frankly, I think Clooney's gotten a bum rap from bat-fans. He would have been a terrific Batman with a different director and a better script.

I don't think he gets a bum rap, most fans aknowledge this. Even Michael Keaton or Christian Bale would have been helpless in Batman & Robin.

I could never picture him as Batman even in a serious film. He just looks ridiculous in the cowl and its way too easy to tell its him. Im not entirely sure what it is but even when i was young, i always thought he would be terrible.

Why would he regret this? He's still a huge star despite being the worst Batman. Now, had his career immediately tanked after B&R, then I imagine he would have a few regrets.

Ugh, his batman sucked so hard. It's still a funny movie to watch. It's so bad it's f****n hilarious!

Yep, on the flip side I still think Arnold would've made an incredible Mr. Freeze under Burton or Nolan.

Let's not forget the other time he played a villain.

Clooney is a good actor and he mentioned his appreciation for Batman in his awards speech, but regardless of his demeanor, in no way, shape, or form is he a good Batman. He is far too soft. He fits the type of Bruce Wayne that Batman TAS created as a mask to the real Bruce, but I'm not sure Clooney has the gravitas to pull off Batman(regardless of the direction or script).

He has no rage to channel, or rather, I don't think his attempt would grant believability. He's too easy-going. Even in Syriana, I never really bought his performance as a CIA agent. Some of the things he did for the role were impressive, but he's never struck me as a "man's man". That's essential for the character of Wayne/Batman, which I deem the American interpretation of Bond in some aspects.

edit: he's at his best in the small off-beat flicks.

Playing the Terminator is far different to playing a character who, despite his predicament, is a human being who the audience should have genuine empathy for despite his villainy. Arnold being given too much dialogue(even under Burton/Nolan) was akin to asking Russell Crowe to do comedy i.e. his main weakness was exposed every time.

Clooney, despite his Oscar, was and still is a charismatic performer but as an actor there's never been the genuine sense of danger or darkness in those performances where he's been called to play borderline unlikeable characters (SOLARIS, SYRIANA).

Keaton and Bale, even with unremarkable scripts throughout their respective careers, always have that edge that I've never bought from Clooney.

A good director knows how accentuate the positives and hide the negatives. There's plenty of ways to make Freeze empathetic with out long speeches.

Well in Clooney's defense, B&R didn't exactly ruin his career since he's practically even better paid than Christian Bale.

George Clooney id awesome.

I have no regrets either because the failure of 'Batman & Robin' gave us Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Still, Clooney was an awful Batman. He just didn't do any research into the character and therefore had no understanding of him. Using the exact same voice for Batman and Bruce Wayne? Feeble.

I thought Clooney was fantastic in From Dusk Till Dawn. When I saw that movie a few years back I thought, "My gosh! He coulda been a FAR better Batman if he portrayed him more like this!"

From interviews Clooney said that he though Batman was gay, now I don't know if he was joking around but having Joel Shumacher directing him one could never tell.

Maybe but Arnie, imo, wasn't talented enough as an actor to give a character significant depth irrespective of how many lines they'd cut back or how good the director was.
