So with the news Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Sienna Miler will most likely not be returning to their respective roles as Cobra Commander and Baroness, who should they recast them with?

For CC, I think Levitt leaving puts them in a perfect position to get CC's design to the one we know and love. Don't even bother recasting a big name actor for Cobra Commander. Get Doug Jones

and put him in (preferably) the hood or the battle mask.

For Baroness, I'd go with Odette Yustman.

Has the right look and is ripe to join a property like Joe in a big role.

They will probably go with young and cheap actors so Yustman would be good. But personally I'd choose Minka Kelly.

And to be honest, I always thought Josh Hartnett is underestimated so would like to see him as Cobra Commander.

Doug Jones is a great idea for Cobra Commander. Love to see that happen. Michael Sheen is another actor I could see having a lot of fun with this role.

For Baroness, Alice Eve reminds me of Seinna Miller and she seems like the type of up and coming actress they'd go for.

Chu (aka "the dance movie guy") is directing. They'll cast real life brother and sister Derek and Julianne Hough as the Lewis siblings.

So from the sounds of it, the only actor who's returning is Channing Tatum. Figures that the actor who gave the absolute worst performance in the fist movie is the only one who is willing to return. You see it's funny, because the fans were hoping it would be just the opposite. :o

We're probably going to get a bunch of Z-list TV actors for the rest of the cast, because I don't see Chu being the kind of guy who attracts A-list talent. This project could not possibly be going worse right now. No matter how good the script is, it can't possibly make up for Tatum's acting and all the recasts combined with Chu's inexperienced directing.

Paramount almost had a gem on their hands, but they pretty much screwed the pooch they even entertained the idea of letting Chu direct. Almost none of the original cast wants to touch this film now, but the studio could care less-- after all, they've got the man who directed the Justin Bieber movie, dammit! Teenage girls will be lining up in droves just to get a look at Channing Tatum in 3D, so screw all those whiny little boys who wanted something that was better than the first one!

My advice to Paramount: just give up now. Pull the plug. Call it quits. Cash in your chips. Do whatever you have to to avoid this marketing nightmare, but do not make this movie. It's too late to save it, and frankly I'll be happy enough if I can at least still enjoy Rise of Cobra without having to associate it with whatever unmitigated disaster its sequel is going to turn out as.

There's pretty much no reason left to watch this movie. Ray Park will probably not be back as Snake Eyes, since you never even saw his face. This whole wreck might as well be direct-to-DVD at this point. It's going to be a fail of Last Airbender proportions.

I was really looking forward to a sequel but it seems Paramount doesn't want that. :csad:

They might as well just call the whole thing off and reboot it. They've gone past the point of saving this franchise, and the only hope now is to just start over and hope for better next time. There's really not much else they can do, so here's hoping that this project ends up being stalled indefinitely until they decide to just give up on it.

No Scarlett is a huge f'n fail.

Judging by Rachel Nichols' comments, it doesn't sound like it was her choice. She mentioned being bummed about not being GI Joe 2 but that it cheered her up to find out she had 100k Twitter followers. Once again, I gotta ask-- WTF is going on at Paramount? It's as if they are taking every step to ensure that no-one likes this movie.

The whole thing has become so unbelievable I'm waiting for Paramount to say all this news was someone's bad joke. I mean I thought they would try hard to make a better sequel but it's like their doing everything they can to do the complete opposite.

Well at least it sounds like we still get Tatum.:csad:

It's not like the first movie was perfectly cast.

Yeah, but if anyone was going to get the boot it should have been Tatum or Wayans. From the looks of it, the only actor who is not being booted is Tatum and the guy who played Storm Shadow. Ray Park might be back, but there are no guarantees since Snake Eyes' mask makes him easy to re-cast. Tatum is a lock because he got a 3 picture deal and has a massive estrogen brigade that Paramount seems all too eager to please with this movie (hence the hiring of Jon "Step Up" Chu as director).

None of the other actors were so lucky, unfortunately, or they saw what Paramount's "vision" for this film was and jumped ship. We have no idea who was which until they make statements, but so far it sounds like Nichols wanted to come back but the studio had other plans. Levitt and Miller might have felt that this movie was beneath them now and jumped ship, but we don't know and it's premature to draw conclusions. At any rate, the end result is that Channing Tatum is the only one of the Joes who is returning, so you can expect a lot of recasts and dropped characters. I Unless Paramount had a serious problem with Nichols being in the movie, it sounds like her character has been written out.

Short version: F U Paramount, this movie is gonna blow.

Man it's clear that Paramount has no intention of making G.I.Joe into a money making franchise like Iron Man, Star Trek and Transformers.

If all they want is mindless action then get Steven Seagal to kick some Cobra butt.

Levitt wouldn't have had time to film it anyway.

After Inception, and now maybe doing Dark Knight Rises, would JGL really want to return, particularly with the Step Up director? And Sienna Miller always seemed acutely embarrassed to be a part of G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

JGL - had fun making Rise Of Cobra and said he'd always like to return. But the problem is, he went and got himself all kinds of famous and now hes just too busy

My oppinion, they should just wait for him to do it.

However if they have to recast then it wont be much problem whomever they chose because the guys face is constantly mask. I would suggest Doug Jones but hes just too tall for the role.

But i think the solution is not who should we recast in those roles as to who should we bring in to make up for the those two actors recasting... Like for example, they could cast any short guy "Cough tom cruise couch" as someone like the cobra commander but to compremise they could have say Ryan Reynolds play Shipwreck and have Tomax and Xamot played by Christian Bale

@ timStuff :

DONT YOU EVER compare anything to LAST SHAMALAN .. no movie deserves that comparison o_O .

Parks maybe return SHOULD BE dependant on how many actors actually know fighting arts, granted no one liked BUBBLEYUM-LIPPED snake eyes.i think he has proven his metal as a decent actor and one who like Jackie Chan is not afraid to be bruised up for a scene unlike ( DRUNK ON HIS BIKE SHIAthebeef *talking smack about shia ,yup*).

Marlon and everyone else is a huge loss , but even KICKING CHRIS off as destro is a hugggge mistake. thats like casting CONSTIPATED ACTRESS kristen-stewart as anything sexy (covergirl v2,lady jaye) and no ONE WANTS TO SEE her no talented butt in a joe movie. it was great to see Marlon stretch his legs in a non comedy role, but shame on paromount for axing him . Levitt i dont think would have felt that way , seeing as how we rarely see him on screen anymore .

when i saw the movie I IMMEDIATLY THOUGHT (Capn crunch villan) SOGGY or (bionic 6 villan)KLUNK with the Cobra commander figure >__>.

Sienna
(FLAT CHESTED BARONESS );

WTF NO ONE CARES ... she is flat chested, not BOMBSHELL MATERIAL , had the nerve to complain that she had to wear fake breasts in several interviews
(HAVE ANYONE GOOGLED HER NAKED, the girls are barely there >__>)
.if you are flatchested YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE AUDITIONED~slept your way~ for the role .

WE COULD HAVE GARCELLE BEAUVAIS-NILON , JESSICA BEIL , CHARISMA CARPENTER [ all fine actresses who are BUILT BY GOD ABOVE for the role ] but no we ended up with this MUDDUCK PoS actress , u know what ill even go so far as saw Even MEGAN FOX is better cast in the JOE movie instead of SM . i dont think any fanboy would have argued with any of these choices ( we almost had a black robin, before JOEL destroyed the bat franchise).

let me guess, instead of keeping a decent cast we are SUBJEGATED TO BRILLIANCE LIKE INDIANA JONES AND THE BATTLE FOR HIS SOCIAL SECURITY , INDIANA JONES AND THE WAR FOR MEDICAID right >__>

This is the most aggressively stupid post that I have ever read.
