Red Bull pulled in Germany after cocaine test.

BERLIN - Six German states have told retailers to stop selling Red Bull Cola energy drinks after a test found a trace amount of cocaine.

The bans started Friday after a sample test conducted by authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia state found 0.4 micrograms per liter in the drink.

Five other states also banned it from shops amid concerns over possible narcotics law violations.

Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment said Monday that the cocaine level was too low to pose a health risk. It planned to produce a more detailed report Wednesday.

Red Bull said its cola is "harmless and marketable in both the U.S. and Europe." It said similar coca leaf extracts are used worldwide as flavoring, and a test it commissioned itself found no cocaine traces.

Coca-Cola used to have cocaine in it, too.

Well that explains why I crave Red Bull. Also explains why I always try to do body shots of hooker's asses.

I've just been out and bought some. Genius advertising stratergy.

Dave Chappelle was right.

"It's crack in a can, baby!"

Wow. I used to drink Red Bull just to stay up but stopped. I'm surprised that I can stop now...

.4 micrograms per liter would mean that you would have to drink a massive amount of red bull just to get approach the high that you would get from the cocaine. By that time your heart would've exploded from the caffeine.

So that's why it's $3.99 for an 8 oz can. Hmmmmm.... I WANT SOME RED BULL!

how about get the real thing (ive tried it, its 3x more powerful than redbull and gives you a crash of a lifetime)

Did no-one read the fact that it is only Red Bull cola (which is gross anyway) that has cocaine in it? Normal Red Bull seems to be fine. That being said I have just asked my brother to pick me up some from his work.

Seriously....that's 4/10,000,000 of a gram per LITER. It's virtually nothing.

By pointing out it's Red Bull "cola" ruins my joke because I've never had it.

If it was regular Red Bull, I would have posted:

You know after drinking it, I did sense a trace of the 80s in it.

Good, I'm glad.:)

I'm wondering what kind of detection method they are using to determine these amounts. It seems likely that what they are detecting could be less "cocaine" and more "coca extract" which would not necessarily be the same thing.

I highly doubt that anyone in the Red Bull factories are spinkling in white powder to the vats.

How long til they confirm my suspicion that Pringles are laced with crack?
