Independent financing, production and sales company IM Global will fully finance Dead Man Down, to be produced by Neal H. Moritz's Original Film and screenwriter J.H. Wyman of Frequency Films, it was announced today by IM Global founder and CEO Stuart Ford and Moritz.

Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will direct the $30 million action thriller, which stars Colin Farrell (Total Recall, Horrible Bosses) and Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows).

Moritz ("The Fast and the Furious" franchise, I Am Legend, XXX) will produce alongside screenwriter J.H. Wyman ("Fringe," The Mexican). Original's Ori Marmur will executive produce with Reid Shane of Frequency.

Following the cinematic phenomenon The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, director Oplev and leading lady Rapace reunite for another thrilling tale of vengeance, with Colin Farrell joining the prestigious team as Victor, right hand man to an underground crime lord in New York City who is seduced and blackmailed by Beatrice (Rapace), a crime victim seeking retribution. Their intense chemistry leads them spiraling into payback delivered in violent catharsis.

Dead Man Down, a powerful action thriller and portrait of two people caught in the crosshairs of revenge, is scheduled to start shooting in early 2012.

Said Ford, "'Dead Man Down' is a terrific script and we're thrilled to be in business with a producer of Neal's caliber and such high profile talent as Niels, Colin and Noomi."

Said Moritz, "I could not be any more excited about 'Dead Man Down' and the team we have assembled. Joel Wyman has written a terrific script, Colin and Noomi are perfect casting and Niels is a truly gifted filmmaker. My partners at IM Global and I look forward to delivering a terrific action thriller to the marketplace."

Interesting premise and lead pairing.

If it's about them at war with each other? Perhaps. I admit I think Farrell is really underrated after his superb turns in In Bruges, The New World and even Fright Night. But the PR makes it sound like Noomi and Oplev are revisiting Lisbeth territory and that is something Noomi has explored so thoroughly (and amazingly) over three films I hope it's more different than the PR is letting on.

Dominic Cooper joins 'Dead Man Down'

"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" star Dominic Cooper is in negotiations to join fellow international stars Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace in IM Global and Original Film's action-thriller "Dead Man Down." Niels Arden Oplev, who directed Rapace in the original adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," is set to helm the pic, which Original Film principal Neal Moritz will produce with scribe J.H. Wyman of Frequency Films. Original's Ori Marmur is exec producing with Reid Shane of Frequency.
A portrait of two people caught in the crosshairs of revenge, "Dead Man Down" finds Farrell infiltrating a crime syndicate responsible for the death of his family, with Rapace playing a mysterious, scarred beauty with intimate knowledge of his past. Cooper is in talks to play Darcy, a family man who works as Farrell's partner on the street.
CAA represents the film's domestic distribution rights, while financier IM Global is handling international sales. Production is skedded to start later this month.
Cooper is coming off a diverse trio of 2011 films in "The Devil's Double," "Captain America" and "My Week With Marilyn." He'll next be seen playing the mentor of the title character in Timur Bekmambetov's "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," which 20th Century Fox opens June 22.

Looks awful. Waaaaaay too much slow motion

^did we watch a different trailer WTF

this film looks awesome some stellar acting with a story with some meat on it's bones with a stellar cast all around looks like a damn good crime drama

I giggled when I saw the 'WWE Films' logo in the credits.

lol thank god for this film they are only investors or maybe john cena would replace collin farrell lol

I think this looks really cool, great performances and well shot action from the looks of it.

This movie wins my award for "Stupidest Movie Title of 2013."

This seems pretty meh to me.

lol thank god for this film they are only investors or maybe john cena would replace collin farrell lol

Wade Barrett is a goon in this. I want Noomi Rapace to appear on RAW, they can put Great Khali in an Engineer outfit or something. :|

I'm probably the only one , but I really want to see this.

I unfortunately did. I thought it was awful. Incredibly stupid, awful story, boring pointless characters and the action was eh at best.

Rapace is the only thing about this film that interests me, and that's just not enough. The trailers and all the promo stuff looks incredibly bleh. Not a big fan of Farrel and the director is most known for doing an, in my opinion only OK, adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

She's given almost nothing to do in it. She's basically pointless
