Comedies where women were actually....funny

I love Dawn French and Victoria Wood, Dinnerladies was gold! Film wise I found Sigourney Weaver funny in Galaxy Quest. Already mentioned Devil Wears Prada, Emily Blunt almost stole the show from Meryl Streep. Mean Girls, I absolutely love that film. The Sweetest Thing, Christina Applegate is hilarious. Death Becomes Her, Streep & Hawn. I Heart Huckabees, with Lily Tomlin, Naomi Watts and Isla Fisher. Anna Faris, I just look at her and laugh in whatever film.

-I Love Lucy
-The 40 Year-Old Virgin
-Scrubs
-Waitress
-Wedding Crashers
-The Matador
-Mean Girls
-Eva Green had some biting moments in Casino Royale
-Raquel Welch was HILARIOUS in The Three Musketeers and Four Musketeers with Richard Lester
-Margot Kidder in the Superman movies
-My Big Fat Greek Wedding
-Sister Act
-Any Mel Brooks movie
-The Naked Gun
-Airplane
-Little Miss Sunshine (she may have been a little girl, but that makes it harder in some respects)
-That '70s Show
-Chicago
-The first Scary Movie
-Lost in Translation
-The Devil Wears PRada
-The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou
-The Royal Tennenbaums
-A Prarie Home Companion

and many others. But yeah in most mainstream romantic comedies the woman is the straight guy and the sensible one and the man is usually just really dumb and while sometimes funny, selfish and completely arrogantly stupid. It can get annoying in Hollywood movies.

We are missing our Katherine Hepburn today, admittedly.

I think nowadays there is a niche of sorts for gross out comedies so female comedians go that way, its works really well for Anna Faris. I hope Emily Blunt makes more comedies. I also quite enjoyed Monster In Law, Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda had some great moments but the show belonged to Wanda Sykes!
