What comic book characters that wouldn't work well on film?

I don't think Trapster would work well in an FF film, the FF are supposed to be cosmic explorers, so having a D-list street villain like trapster in the movies wouldn't work, IMO.

IMO any comic book character could work on film, but of course certain characters would need to be altered.

MODOK for sure...I think Mysterio would have to get a pretty big redesign....

Hey, if Whiplash can be reworked into something cool like we got in IM2, than ANY character can be [even the Trapster!]. You just need people behind it who care, again like in IM2.

Well, they just cast Arnim Zola for the Cap movie.

Personally, I would love to see them do him the way he is in the comics.

The movie would have to consistently feature characters in that effect then. If it's a realistic setting, a la Iron Man or Incredible Hulk, you can't just throw in a random Nazi robot thing, or whatever Zola is supposed to be.

I get a feeling Ego the Living Planet wouldn't really come off too well...

so we cant have an android because of Iron man and the Hulk?????
Tony is pretty much an android...he has a sentient house computer.
Hulk feature a man who turns into a giant green monster...sonic cannons...another giant monster in Abomination and if the series continues...the Leader....I dont see why you cant have an android in the universe

Then again energy are a cooler gimmick then paste and movie Whiplash is a combo of Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo, which other FF villain could you combine to make Trapster better?

That's not going to happen, the Cap movie is set in WWII, before Zola was a robot. Zola will likeley just be a human in the movie and I see no problem with that. Why waste money trying to create Zola's robot body.

Whiplash's whips were energy in the comics

And how does that go against my point? With Whiplash the basic gimmick is fine but there where other problems with the character, lack of motive, lack of personality and lack of defesive capabilties to fight Iron Man.

All of that was addressed in the Iron Mam film. With the Trapster even the gimmick is lame and is too mundane to work in a FF flim.

sorry I meant to say "werent"...Trapster can be reworked int a credible villain

Zola was a robot during WW2...its how he survived to present time....why cast a character and not use their classic form....Cap has plenty of human enemies if they needed someone to be a scientist for the Red Skull

I'm pretty sure it was, if it not at first, then later on and how would you rework Trapster, exactly?

Because the robot body is a waste of special affects money and may not even look good on screen, why not spend that money else where, like on fight scenes or something. The budget for this isn't unlimited.

And really what Nazi scientist is more of promient Cap foe then Zola? If people don't have problem with Whiplash being Russian, I don't see the big deal with this is.

Consdering the FF franchise would have the rights to trapster and how I can't even think of issue of IM where Trapster appeared in, of course as an FF villain.

he fought him in the early years...they did a lot of switching villains back then.....

I would make him a rival to Reed who feels that the idea for the Instable molecules was his idea. He sues the FF and loses his case and pretty much ruins himself. Distraught he constructs his adhesive weapon that will counteract the FF powers

When Paste Pot Pete became the Trapster his paste gun was upgraded to fire various weapons [or traps] as well as paste. He has a more varied arsenal than say the Green Goblin.

If Johann the ectoplasm man can "work" in Hellboy 2 [and it did] then Zola can work in a Captain America movie [digitally replacing the actor's head with that robotic gadget and putting a face on his chest is not that tough of an effect].

I know Trapster fought Daredevil and Captain America, but I can not recall when he fought Iron Man...

Well in the comics hes described as an expert chemist and a skilled marksman, so i would work off of that. Make him a disgruntled scientist who combines his scientific know how with his passion for hunting. He creates an outfit that has various trapping equipment attached to it. The most prominent being wrist mounted guns that fire all kinds of stuff including a type of adhesive.
