Alright not only did the new teaser trailer for the movie get shown at Comic Con, but during his panel, director of the new TMNT movie, Kevin Munroe, presented a reel of some unfinished and rough footage of the movie.

A quick recap:

-AWESOME voiceover featuring the late Mako as the voice of Splinter. Splinter says that no matter what, that someone (probably referring to Raphael) is still part of a family, and they are still all brothers.

-Raphael driving in a motorcycle in some bicycle gear.

-April O'Neill. Her design is a little weird.

-Michelangelo is in distress and on a radio with Donny telling him to stay calm. Michelangelo says he needs backup. We then see he's wearing a giant turtle mask (yeah I know) and performing a kid's birthday party. The kids proceed to pummel him into the ground before they leave to get some cake.

-Raphael and Leonardo standing off. Leonardo tries to talk him down. Looks like they are going to fight.

-A giant winged bat beast. Kind of looks like Man-bat. Not sure who this character is.

-A rich guy in a mansion in front of a fireplace. He speaks. Not sure who this is either.

-Various foot ninja. Human kind, not the robots.

-Splinter talking, again with the voice of Mako.

-Some Casey Jones.

I'm not sure who is playing the turtles. The voices sound similar to the current animated series, but Munroe says the voice actors are different.

Questions:

1. How would you rate the animation? Is it closer to Pixar, or Hoodwinked?

2. How are the humans? Are they stylized or realistic looking? I still think humans are the hardest to animate in CGI cartoons, depending on what style you're going for.

It's not Pixar level at all. I guess closer to Hoodwinked, but I still feel the movie looks pretty cool.

They are very stylized and exaggerated. Very cartoony looking. Not photo-real.

Well, I mean you didn't have to compare directly to Hoodwinked. :)

I just wanted to know if the animation is up to par with the teaser. Honestly, I was impressed by it and it didn't look cheap at all.

Another question:

How was the tone? Is it light hearted? Dark? The thing is that in end, no matter how much people want a dark and violent Turtles movie, it's never going to happen. I'm just afraid that this movie may not find its audience unless the tone is right. I still feel that the first movie got it right, with its hybrid of the comics and cartoons.

Another Question...LOL

So the voices are similar to the ones in the new cartoon? So does Mikey have a surfer voice? Does Raph have a NY accent?

and when you say the humans are cartoony looking, is that in a good way or bad way?

Umm...I dunno.

I don't . . . dislike them.

How about Reboot or Mainframe animation?

Most of it was rough and unfinished footage. Some in black and white. Some in color. I imagine the finished product will look more like the teaser trailer.

Similar to the newer series and the movies. Darker and cooler with less silliness but still a good sense of humor. Like the teaser trailer.

Raph sounds like he's from Brooklyn, not like Rob Paulsen. Mikey has toned the surfer voice down. He still says dude and he's still kinda goofy.

Splinter of course sounds like AKU since it's Mako.

Mainframe? Yuck.

It's good for TV but not for movies. That's why I worried about Imagi since their resume is mostly filled with TV programs.

And yes, in the end, the animation does play a role. Deep down, everyone does care to a certain degree.

What I don't understand is why did they show unfinished footage? was that done on purpose? you can't tell me that they're not at least half way done, espically when the movie's coming out next March and that they've been working on it since 2005!

Could Raph be brainwashed in some sort of way

They showed unfinished footage because people at Comic Con want to see it. A lot of people attending work in the industry or want to break in, so they understand it's not a finished product. But they still get excited about it anyway.

Last year at Comic Con, a totally unfinished version of the T-Rex/Kong fight from King Kong was shown, but we all still loved it anyway.

Same reason unfinished footage of Spider-man 3 was shown, because we want to see it anyway. And we will understand and still like it.

I don't think it's like that. I think it's just Raph being Raph.

no, vile. I was stating not dat they shouldn't show footage, but on why they're STILL 'unfinished' at this state of development.

The same reason not all of the footage in the Spider-man 3 reel wasn't finished.

Because the movie isn't finished yet.
