Never seen his work, but I’m sure he’ll do at least fine.
Makes me wonder if Reeves has plans to introduce Barbara later on. We all know people will complain if she’s black.
Agreed! And yes, I've noticed that last part too haha. Very interesting indeedWell, that’s pretty much a confirmation!
Can’t tell you how pleased I am about this. He’s a great actor, and will bring such a great gravitas to Gordon.
Also, side note, but it’s interesting how this is another actor with a connection to the Nolans in this new Batman movie. Still some influence or complete coincidence?

Basically Gary Oldman caliber. Can command a scene with ease when needed, even when next to top talent, but just as capable of being understated with quiet charisma.Never seen his work, but I’m sure he’ll do at least fine.

It probably either means the entire trilogy is going to be standalone, or that they're going with the "soft" reboot thing starting with Aquaman.Hmm, I hadn’t considered it just yet, but I guess this means this movie isn’t canon to Justice League and, by extension, Batman v Superman?
Unless Jeffrey Wright really does end up aging into J.K. Simmons because comic books...
I think it’s a foregone conclusion the Bat-world is going to be divided into two distinct stylistic worlds which will run parallel and basically never intersect.I like Jeffrey Wright's work, I think he's a good choice. There's nothing about Jim Gordon that says to me that he needs to be white.
A black Barbara Gordon isn't as natural to me, but wouldn't ruin it for me if they cast and write the role right. And if the filmmakers wanted to stick with the classic white girl with red hair look for Barbara, it's easy to do. Either say she's adopted (which Batgirl was in certain canon), or put Jim in an interracial marriage, and say that Babs takes after her mother.
Awesome choice!
Also see in the article it says that the movie is set to be a “grounded” take on mythos... wonder how grounded we’re talking here.

I’m not sure why at this juncture anyone thinks this movie is going to be connected to BvS or the DCEU in any way, shape or form. WB have clearly stated they’re not concerned about a shared universe any more, so why would this movie be part of the DCEU now? It doesn’t need to be, and the DCEU movie continuity will continue off over there with the movies that were a success for it.

To me it seemed only the Joker movie had its own separate universe. Obviously Wonder Woman and Aquaman still exist in that particular iteration of the DCEU, just very discreetly, and even Shazam almost had a Henry Cavill cameo.
That was all what I was basing that presumption off of.
But whatever. Cool news, new rules (sort of.)
