So to make sure the Mods don't rape me for this, I have a....feedack thing....
Please, let us Edit our own thread titles! (only Threads that person made)
Well I'd also like for there to be a psuedo Edit feature for the threads themselves.
Like if you're having a serious discussion and someone says something that you feel is immature or stupid and does not relate to the thread, then you can be allowed to either delete their post or edit it. Of course you'd have to alert the mods first and go over with them what you'll replace it with for the edit.
So if the topic is Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and Colossal Spoons has just explained how awesome the game is in a three paragraph post...and some silly wanker comes along and says something like "Hoobastank!", then CS could edit it and put in "Dear Silly Wanker(assuming that's their name), this thread is supposed to be serious. Please don't post thread-breaking comments."
Something like that..

That idea wouldn't work. All it would do is enable the thread starter to delete posts of people that disagree with their opinion or just simply don't like. As for alerting the mods everytime someone doesn't like a certain posts, I am sure they would just love to get a message everytime someone disagrees on this board, or when they "feel" the posts is not worth being in the thread...![]()
I still think we need community contests with prizes like a bigger avy or signature privileges for a determined amount of time.

Don't take this the wrong way, but that is a terrible idea.
What would be the purpose of you editing a post if you're just going to send one of us a message anyway telling us you're going to edit it? Wouldn't it just be easier to report a spam post and have us deal with it as we see fit?
And allowing everyone to delete and edit people's posts within their own thread would significantly compromise what we try to do.
If you had to go over the edit with a mod first, then have the mod approve it, couldn't the mod just make the edit at that point if it was necessary?
For the record, I typed that, answered the phone, and then came back and hit send. I wasn't just copying Cmill. No matter what it looks like.![]()

threads moderated by the a thread starter is the way forward.
certain posters should be given this autonomy, posters with a rep of being fair, it'd leave the mods to get on with more important stuff.
no one visits a thead more than the owner (in general) and it allows them to keep the tone of the conversation they intended without it getting hijacked or off topic
rather than deleting posts, could the thread starter use some special code to block out the view of certain posts (by which the moderators have the ability to view it and no one else does). This allows bad posts to be isolated without removing the evidence of the post.
that's probably a better idea. Like having a spoiler tag without the open button.

not you again....No offense, but this is a horrible idea. It gives the poster way too much power to censor and exclude conversation that he deems as unacceptable. It would create way too many problems and give the mods more of a hassle when someone reports the poster for blocking one of their posts for no reason other than it doesn't agree with what the poster wants to talk about. A fact of life on these boards is that all threads at some point go off topic, the unpredictability of that is what makes threads more entertaining. While in a perfect world all threads would stay on topic there comes a point where there is nothing more to say.
And while mods were once regular folks like us, how does someone deem a post to be a bad post? And if it was a bad post to begin with, why would you want it around anyway? I know you're pushing for transparency, but with your plan, us regular posters aren't going to be able to see the post anyway, so nothing really changes.
Hoobastank!
not you again....![]()
I did say certain posters, not everyone...ya know, the nearly mods
as for bad posts, i did say they should be censored not deleted so they can be dealt with in the mean time and a mod can later come and decide whether it was a right call or not.
if not, you lose your ability to do so, if so, you keep it. Good or bad is decided on a concensus.
conversations do generally go off topic but can wide up back again, but when you have a thread about food that turns into a religious neverending debate, you can nip it in the bud.
I don't mind either way with this one so this is the last i'll say on it.
