Ok..so above are two links, 1 to the Internet Movie Database page for the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie in 2007, a movie that I hope kicks SO much ass it's going just....well.....well...KICK ASS!!!
Now there have been SO many concerns with this movie with regards to the overall tone of the movie right down the to character designs...and with good reason! I mean, how long has it been since we could walk into a movie theater and say "One for the Ninja Turltes movie please"...a looooonnnng time ago, that's for sure!
Now that the flick is due to come out in March of next year I am SO stoked and am hoping for the best (Mikey burping in the trailer was HELLA weak and waaaay to 'dick and fart kiddy humour' for my liking.
That being said I know that the Turtles have to appease both kids and the older 'kids' alike I know that when I was growing up with the Ninja Turtles I HATED the 'burpy/pie in the face' garbage that they stuck in the shows or movies...it's just not funny in a Universe where all these awesome characters live in...the 1st Turtles movie was A-MAZING and had the perfect blend of humour and action...
Now on this board in particular I have seen a few comments with regards to people not really diggin' the designs of the characters, most notably the humans. I have to agree the designs for the humans ARE kinda cruddy, BUT, and here is the HUGE 'B-U-T'...if this movie is what most people are hoping it will be, I don't think that will really matter. I mean look at the human designs for the movie "The Incredibles". They were downright silly lookin' BUT the movie was SO damn cool and had so many awesome 'serious' moments and great action, that the movie was loved.
I am so crossing my fingers that this happens here..but at least with the 2 links I posted above you can see why the studio opted for the designs they went with...here is an excerpt if you don't wanna go and look at the page itself. Although I would recommend it, 'cause it has some cool FAQ that have certainly cleared up a few things I was wondering SLASH concerned about.
Why the cartoony animation style? Why didn't they make it like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within?
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was a colossal failure that resulted in the director being fired and the company being bought out. Shockingly, most major film studios do not believe this is a formula they would like to try.
..That makes sense to me.
