That would be cool, but I had one a couple of years ago and it didn't go too well, mostly because I don't have any close friendships here.

Besides I already know I'm going to get a bunch of facebook notifications from people who wouldn't even say anything to me if it weren't for facebook saying whose birthday it is. What I really want is for the people close to me, like my family to do more than just tell me I'm getting old.

I confess that I have eaten cereal for dinner the past few days randomly for no reason at all. This is somehow the White Man's fault.

I confess that my birthday is tomorrow, and even though I've never been the kind of person to brag about my birthday and act like its some super special day that everyone needs to acknowledge, I do kinda wish that someone would do something special for me for once. I have a lot of bad memories from when I was a child, but I just wish someone would give me a good one for a change.

I feel for you, really. Had the same kind of experiences with birthdays myself as a child.
My way of coping is to not bother with them at all now. I recently helped with organising a surprise 50th bash for my partner. She was overjoyed. But everybody I know, knows not to pull that kind of stuff for me because I will out and out hate it.
I just want to be left in peace on those days. Less fuss made, the better.

Seriously?? Cereal isn't that expensive, because you can get a decent size box for less than $4.00. I usually get my stuff at Sam's for around $ 8.00 bucks or so.

Yeah, like honestly, I've come to realize that birthdays are nothing more than just a regular day. Everyday is someone's birthday somewhere, so it's not like they're rare or anything.

But I would appreciate the thought if someone wanted to surprise me. Like last year, I was at a rehearsal for pretty most of the day, and when I finally got home, I was kinda expecting a party or something, but all I walked into was my mom watching TV as she was getting ready to go to sleep, and it sucked because it was still early and no one said anything to me for the whole day. I guess all I wanted was some kind of acknowledgement, especially considering that everyone else around me has their birthday made into a big deal.

Back at my undergraduate school, I was blessed with a large dating population, even though it was a small school. Here, in the university, or more specifically, in the city - which paradoxically has a larger population - there is no one. The only people whose interests cross mine are either married,or have someone in their life.
It is quite irritating.

I confess that the other day at work I was in the bathroom, "taking care of business ", when someone walked in talking on the phone, on a conference call. That typically annoys me for some reason.

I decided to flush the toilet a couple of times. I'm sure it did absolutely nothing, but I got some satisfaction thinking that everyone on the call heard flushing toilet sounds. I was in a real ****** mood.
