Superman Returns Connecting Superman Returns with the previous movies (merged)

I just saw the movie tonight, and I'm blown away by what Bryan Singer has done with Superman Returns. The new Man of Steel movie exceeded my expectations, and has put itself on the list as one of the best movies of 2006.

I have one question though. It's been a while since I've seen Superman II, but I remember Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane having sex in the Fortress of Solitude, and then near the end of the movie, Superman uses the infamous "super-kiss" to rid Lois's mind that Clark Kent and Superman are the same, and returning Lois and Clark to their usual status quo.

Now in Superman Returns, Lois has no idea who Clark is which is easy to comprehend. But does Lois know that Superman is the father of her child? Is that what she whispers into his ear as he lays on the hospital bed? Does she remember having sex with Superman, but not knowing he was Clark Kent? Or does she have no clue that her child is the son of Kal-El?

This might be easy to answer as I might be reading in to this way too much. But if somebody could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

2009. I can wait for the next adventure in the Superman franchise.

It's obviously a bit of foreplay and a bit of audience teasing. Obviously Lois didn't remember and got into a relationship with White soon afterwards and assumed the kid was his.

The Superman II red "depowering" rays could be linked to depowering him initially.

couldn't remember which episode has superman made love to his galfriend? before reading your post, i thought it was in part III or IV. (roughly recalled that superman turned evil and the gal has made love to the bad one...' sorry can't recall, that was 20 over years ago... :P )

can someone tell me in more detail when has superman make love to miss lane?

i like superman, and he is always nice to gals... but what this movie has disappointed me is can't even see them kissing! (close, but still failed!)

all we know is that lois and superman slept together at some point in the past. the past, however, may not be defined by superman I or II. the movie makes it pretty damn clear that they had a relationship prior to his 5-year departure, but that relationship may not be the same one that was depicted in the original 2 movies.

She remembers having sex with him, she knows it's Superman's son..she just doesn't know he's CLARK. White ALSO knows it's not his own kid..the kid never referes to him as DAD. He just got involved with a single mom, nothing crazy about this. THis is why he asks about the article (I spent the night with Superman) He has his suspicions..

...and Yes she whispers in Supes ear about him being the father, anyone can see that really. Why else would she look at her son before mentioning this and then have Supes fly into his room and repeat Jor-el's words to him.

It rarely talked about Jason. It showed his birth, and then him asking Lois who Superman was, and she answered that he was a friend that mommy used to know, and that he [Jason] is the super man in her life now.

Other than that, it most showed Lois trying to move on. Even when she's with Richard she's held back, and it wasn't until she wrote "Why The World Doesn't Need Superman" is when she finally got to move on. Although we know that was shortlived now that Superman returned shortly thereafter.

This is the problem.

SR is a Loose sequel. Whch mean's Singer picked what he wanted to keep and ignored what he didn't.

If you make this movie a direct sequel....then the problem is, Lois not remembering having sex with Supes. By the end of the movie she has a pretty good idea whose kid it is. And you know she would have to be going, "When did this happen???" She'd have ALOT of questions and by all rights should be peppering Supes with questions during there last meeting on the roof. And I'll bet she'd be pretty mad if she found out they had sex and he mind wiped her.

Now if it ISN'T a direct sequel to Superman II.....then Lois and Supes were involved sexually and he just up and left her. Meaning he left without saying a word....AND left her with a kid.

Which does not look good on his character, nor does it bode well for a later relationship.

Either way by the end of the movie, Lois should be LIVID.

That´s one gigantic flaw that many didn´t noticed until they saw the movie (i haven´t seen it, mind that).
Does Lois knows who Superman is or not?
If she does knows, great, if she doesn´t, that just stupid.

Either Superman raped her, like LivingInClip, which is ridiculous behind belief; or Lois is a moron and either thinks she is the Virgin Mary or is a **** who sleeps around and doesn´t know who the father is.

The only way to escape the moronic situation is for her to know who SM is.

Watching the film, Lois doesn't know obviously.

So IF this is a sequel to SII.....then she should be pissed at Supes.

IF this isn't a sequel (or even a loose sequel) to SII, then he had sex with her, left earth for five years and left her with a kid....Lois should still be pissed.

She should HATE Supes after that and NEVER stray from Richard since he's great for her and has taken care of the kid and her.

But Hollywood doesn't work like that.

You know what? This film would make a really beautiful elseworld's story. I can accept it if I take it as that. There have been some really great elseworld's stories in the past where Superman has children. Check out Superman-Batman Generations.
