The Dark Knight Continuity Flaws

The only issue that you put up there that had anything to do with continuity was the first one with the hair (which was intentional, you're not supposed to notice his hair is green because the goons don't and the only way to do that is to have his hair not green while most of it takes place).

The glass thing isn't a continuity issue. It would be if it went like this: One shot Joker had a glass that was full before he chucked it. The next shot Joker had a glass that was half empty before he chucked it. Learn what a continuity issue is.

Nothing is perfect, if you're not willing to overlook stupid little things, then you'll never enjoy any movie.

Mr. Vance speaks truth.

By trying to deconstruct every little thing inside of a movie, you'll miss it. No matter how big or small a movie, I always just try to keep expectations at a minimum and enjoy myself. Hell, I enjoyed Daredevil in the theater because I knew it was probably shlock. Turned out, I was surprised that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Same goes for movies you expect to be good or even perfect.

En garde, chump-accuser. Some examples, please.

In fight club (which is a masterpiece imho) theres a scene where bobs pants fall down.

Also, I think in star wars the first time a lightsaber is used to sever a limb, it bled. I think, I dunno. Ive never seen the star wars flicks.

Okay FilmSchool, sorry to have interrupted your Coen brothers w**kathon. Instead of "continuity issues" how about "lazy filmmaking issues"? You'll find that on p.876 of your Directing for Dummies handbook.
In the meantime learn some manners.

:wow::wow::wow: And they let you be a member on these boards!!!:cwink:

Example #213 that intelligent discussion is dead.

There are going to be lots of niggly continuity issues that will prevent this film from reaching masterpiece status. The film's not even opened yet, but the flaws are obvious:
1 - Bank scene: brown hair to green just in time for the reveal!
2 - Joker obviously not wearing make-up under mask
3 - Joker is sans mask before getting in car... are you telling me no-one's going to notice a guy standing there motionless in clown make-up in the middle of the street?
4 - Party scene, drinking from empty glass
Yes it's dorky to nitpick but these things are lazy and irritating. The brown hair to green hair thing annoys me most, because it's narrative short-cutting: Nolan couldn't find a way to make it fit (there's no way the other bank robbers wouldn't have noticed the green hair if they're all talking about this guy called the Joker who wears make-up) so Nolan just kicks it under the carpet and hopes we don't notice.
Nolan! We don't NOTICE???? We've been waiting for this thing for MONTHS!!!

Instead of it being a continuity error, it actually could be a lighting issue.

If you know anything about film sets, you'd know for Heath to magically get his hair dyed before a take is ridiculous. Those extras and the entire scene probably had to be shot in one or two days.

What you're most likely seeing is light hitting the hair at different angles.

Even if it weren't, you're post is idiotically nit-pickish.

Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhaal. Biggest continuity error right there.

actually if you look closely you can notice the joker has make up undeneath his mask, i noticed...look right at the edge of the mask around his jaw you can even sometimes notice the scar, but you can deffinently notice the white paint underneath in the prologue

"If you know anything about film sets". Well I have worked on several sweetheart, but that's another story.
"magically get his hair dyed"... er how about just get a permanent green dye, and let Nolan figure out a decent way of putting that in his plot?
"light hitting the hair at different angles" it is not.... I refer you again to the excellent Apple TV version of the prologue. His hair is BROWN then GREEN.
I wish I could "magically" look like Johnny Depp when the light hits me at the right angle but no luck so far.

There are continuity flaws in almost all pics. The bigger the pics, the more the flaws. I choose to ignore them. But some folks (like my dad) think the more they find, the cleverer they are.

I only gave that bit of information out so that you could use it for future discussions, so that you know what you're talking about.

Your Dad kicks ASS!
This is not nit-pickery for the hell of it. I'm just surprised that some common sense things seem to have been booted into touch for the sake of convenience.

I actually rolled my eyes when I came onto the boards and saw this thread. The film isn't even out yet, it's getting great reviews across the board, and we're nitpicking something like this (yes, it's a flaw, but so what?)?
Let's put a moratorium on this issue until the film has been released and widely seen, then we can nitpick the hell out of it.

Not sure if this has been said, but about him drinking out of the empty glass. The glass wasn't completely empty. It had enough for a small sip in it left. Plus, the scene was improvised, and its the joker. If he wants to drink out of a glass the is almost empty well then he can.

Uh oh, hall monitor...
The film comes out in one week. We're free to discuss it now. No I don't want to join wargaming club.

The Godfather II - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071562/goofs
Citizen Kane - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033467/goofs
Casablanca - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/goofs
Lawrence of Arabia - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056172/goofs

Seven Samurai - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047478/goofs
Taxi Driver - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075314/goofs

The above are some of the films that are by all accounts, CERTIFIED classics of cinema. And they have flaws - little continuity and factual errors, but that doesn't take away from their "masterpiece" status. That's because they are so good, it makes little screwups like these more than insignificant.

I don't think the issues that the OP brought up are important or detrimental to the film at all. The whole purpose is for the general movie going audience to not realize that the Joker is actually one of the criminals until the reveal. If he had the green hair and black around his eyes from the get-go, the element of surprise would not be there.

Also, I have watched it in high quality, and to me it seems like the other goons never really look at him long enough to notice anything; they are always either in front of him or in a separate part of the bank.

In regards to the Joker standing on the street corner, he put on the mask before the other goons could see his face. There also aren't very many pedestrians around the area, although there are some in the distance. But, if you were in a big city like Gotham, and you saw someone dressed like that, wouldn't you probably just keep wallking and act like you didn't see anything.

I won't even go into the thing at the party because that was improvised and supposed to be done for humorous effect.

Seven Samurai. One of my favourites. Flaw is what, exactly?
