Cool cops blast Vader's theme song...while on patrol.

Yeah, that was a dumb thing for the cops to do.

Did they find the droids they were looking for?

Self-parody lol? Should play the Jaws theme on the highway.

Well, it's a nice change from dog killing, and blatant police brutality.

Who would have thought Vader would be the lesser of two evils.

I completely approve of this, and I am (military) police.

As such I understand that they would of course get in trouble for this. But c'mon! So funny.

So, the police officers broadcast their presence with a song that is near universally associated with brutal fascism. It's hard to tell if they were being clever or stupid.

I would imagine they were doing it because so many people do label all cops as just bad. Obviously, some are. But because some people think all cops are bad, they're kind of making fun of them I think.

If they thought they wouldn't get in trouble for doing it, though, that was a little stupid.

It's insensitive to those who do feel the cops are corrupt and bad. I'm sure they gained a few fans and laughs from it but more suspicion and disappointment than anything else. Those who already don't trust the police would just call them honest for playing that.

I always wondered what it'd be like if there actually was no law enforcement, and if those people would change their minds, or if they'd have been murdered in the anarchy caused by that situation.

Yeah, because the fact that we need law enforcement of some kind makes any and all criticisms of how our system of law enforcement is run and who is hired to do the job entirely invalid.

That was sarcasm, no it doesn't.

I was obviously talking about the people who thought allcops were bad. I said that. I agree with this/your statement.

If cops didn't exist then there would be another form of enforcement. Do you think that before we had police people just ran around killing each other and doing whatever they liked? Of course the punishment was more brutal. Usually starting at beatings and getting worse from there.

Yes..... That was my point. More brutal. Getting worse from there. Are you saying you prefer that?

Also, vigilante justice (which only works in comics and movies).

Is what I said really that insane?

Edit: I said no law enforcement anyway, not no cops.

I think this is great. I'm assuming they were just doing it to be funny... which is is.

:up::up:

I don't know why people are so hurt over it, besides the fringe that believe all cops are bad.... But who cares what they think?

THAT WAS SORT OF A JOKE.

I guess my point is that I'm super sympathetic towards people who have that attitude. Usually they're poor people, often minorities, who've only ever had run ins with the worst the police force has to offer because the system of American law enforcement is stacked against people like them. It's not an entirely rational opinion, and it doesn't really recognize the nuances of the situation, but at the same time I can't really feel comfortable with telling people who've been kicked in the teeth by the people they're supposed to be able to trust so often that they need to be reasonable. Coming from me, from a guy who as a result of his relatively privileged station in life has had positive experiences in 90% of his dealings with law enforcement, that comes off as condescending.

Bahahahaha. That's less well known, but just as good.

I can understand that. It's not actually condescending, but it could come off that way to people in such situations. I would doubt that every cop in a given community is bad though I wouldn't be walking around neighborhoods with such unrest explaining it to them. And of course, as people, every cop has made a mistake at some point.

To be fair, it depends on the neighborhood. There are some small town police departments in my state where it's just a fraternity of violent buffoons.

I suppose if it is a small enough department, true. Makes sense.

Also, I'd argue that if the organization itself is so broken that the bad cops can get away with doing pretty much whatever, it almost doesn't matter that there are good guys on the force. They don't have a whole lot of ability to fix the problem.

I can sort of agree with that. Things the individual good cops go on can turn out well still, but more bad could be done overall by the department. And the good cops may not be able to expose corruption, which is what you're saying I believe. Especially if say, a police chief is the problem.
