Is the voice of someone famous copyrighted?

I know the likeness of someone is (I learnt that off Sky Captain) but is their voice covered by copyright?

I ask this because of the likeness situation, and also I got a radio program off Old Times Radio of a program of Boris Karloff reading something from the Reader's Digest...seeing as that is assumed in public domain (I'm only using his greeting and farewell), I'm in the clear?

Isn't it something like if its over 50 years old then the copyright expires that's why some films are now on the net because the copyright wasn't renewed, could go for voices as well...

I don't think it's in copyright...I'm sorta just seeing if I'm wrong...lemme see if I can find the broadcast date.

It's either 50 years from broadcast day or so many years from date of death (which is 1969 I think). If it's the latter I probably can't use it.

I just wanna use it coz Karloff is a friggin' God...he awesome and he has a great voice...anyways...

December 1957 dang it. Well...that's for the recording...I still am confident I can use his greeting and farewell. If not...I can just wait till sometime next year to finish it, it'll be outta copyright this december if that's the casw

what's going to happen to the film when its done? i mean if you aren't seeing it and what not what's the problem?

well to be truthful i dunno whatd happen to it when i'm done. I'd perhaps send to any film festival i can maybe? just send it to family and friends maybe...upload a trailer or two to google?

I'm sad now :meow:
