Could Aquaman be the movie that makes environmental movies cool again?

When I was growing up there used to be tons of movies with an environmental message like free Willy or fern gully but I think people got turned off them because they got too heavy handed or guilt porny.

Now that I'm seeing Wonder Woman has tackled feminism fearlessly and in an interesting way, do you think Aquaman could do the same with environmentalism?

Doesn't have to be over the top, maybe just a scene where Arthur thinks plastics in the ocean is gross or something. What do you think?

I think that this movie being tied also to environmentalism would be an interesting approach

One of the absolute worst I saw was Steven Seagal's On Deadly Ground (1994)! :funny: Talk about laying it on thick!

Yeah...sure...[blackout]whatever[/blackout]...Furious 7 had beautiful scenic shots
Save the planet to keep those, I guess.

Yeah I think if Wonder Woman taught DC/Warner brothers anything it's "keep it meaningful". Don't just have people scowling at each other. Raise a topic of conversation and inspire people

Maybe something along the lines of that scene with Wolverine in the bar with the guys who shot the grizzly with a poisoned arrow in The Wolverine.

Yeah or something like Aquaman notices that when humans get too close in their submarines their echos confuse the local whales nearby and threaten their lives so he has to go sort them out?

Or oil drilling? Tons of issues to choose from unfortunately

Maybe they'll lightly graze over this topic. WW had a few lines that were socially aware so it could work with Aquaman too as long as it isn't heavy.

This. As OP says, overdo it and it'll actually turn people off.

Yeah plus I think subtlety actually gets the point across better. People need to think about it not just have a character scream at them "it's about the environment"!!! Lol

I reckon after a billion dollars at the box office environmental films are cool again now. I wonder if it will be easier to make a Captain Planet movie happen now?
