Would anyone here like to see Sean Connery return to the role one last time. They could do a one-off, out of sequence story about Bond in his later years coming out of retirement for one last mission. This wouldn't be to replace Craig or anything, just do it once and then go back to the current continuity. Would you go see it? What are some possible plot ideas you would like to see if this was a possibility?

This happened back in the 80's, it was Never Say Never Again. It even gives Connery's Bond an ending; he says, "Never again," to working for MI6 and stays with Kim Basinger.

That doesn't count. That wasn't an "official" Bond movie. Besides, I'm not talking about what has already happened. My question was "Would you like to see it?"

yes, in fact i may go get never say never out of my dvd cupboard and watch it :woot:

I think it could work. After 21 films they may wanna try "experimenting" with different ideas. You know? Like when Quentin Tarantino said he wanted to make Casino Royale with Pierce Brosnan and have it based in the `60s. You know...it would have been interesting.

So, yeah, they could try it.

Connery is 76 years old, although he doesn´t look that old, I would find it unbelievable and very, well, odd if a James Bond of that age comes back, saves the world again and gets a very young and hot chick. Seriously, who wants to see a legend getting ruined like that?

About the villian idea though, that would be amazing, thing is if he´d want to.

Yeah, now that you mention it it might be better to see him come along as a villain or even as M. That would be cool.

I'd prefer Connery as M and George Lazenby as the villain. ;)

roger moore doesn't havea bad bone in his body...

he was a villain-esque character in THE QUEST with van damme and he did and aweful job.

No, he is too old now.

I think this time new Bond (Craig) looks even better than that Connery from 60s.

You do know he's in his seventies now right?

The last and about only time Sean Connery played a villain was in The Avengers. I don't particularly relish the idea of a repeat performance... :o

I doubt Connery will come back to the Bond serires in any way as he seems to be retired. The only role I'd like to see him in would be M, although it would be amusing to see him play Q and have no patience for 007.

Putting Connery back in a Bond movie in any role (other than an Alfred Hitchcock-like cameo appearance) would just seem gimmicky.

If the premise is strong and unique, I might watch it.
Maybe this time the plot is something like:
Bond have a last mission to do.
He fails the mission.
He died.

The title:
THE DEATH OF JAMES BOND.

Well, let's say it might be something like The Death of Superman when Supes fight Doomsday. How do you think Bond will die?

To answer the original question: no.

Connery will, indeed, never return to playing Bond. He came back for two reasons - A) To earn the highest paycheck ever offered an actor at the time for Diamonds on Forever (to show his appreciation, he then donated the entire sum to Scottish charities); B) As a favor to Kevin McClory, when he made Never Say Never Again.

If Connery returned, it would either be for a big paycheck, something that involved Scotland, or a really well written role.

You know for me its one of those ideas that I think is fun too imagine and play around with but wouldn't ever really want to see it happen. I think too really do that idea would ruin my image of Connery as Bond. Definitely a fun idea to toss around though.

I don't think he is retired as he is considering reprising his role as henry jones in Indiana Jones IV.

what about connery taking a role as a new 'Q' or at least an old field agent who has now become a 'Q'

I think that would work, heck they could even cameo some of the old gadgets that connery used back in teh day and see how daniel handles it in his new bond films...

yeah that would be cool, only replace Connery withh Moore. And put Connery as M. And while we're at it, put Lazenby as Miss Moneypenny.:yay:
