I hate it when the make excuses like this. Could it be that it bombed because it sucked an no one wanted to see it? Iron Man will live or die by its own merits. GTA4 will have no, or at least very little, effect on that.

I don't know....I guess it's possible. It's certainly not gonna bomb or anything because of this.

I don´t see the connection. People can buy the game right away and play it whenever they want. They know a movie will only be at theater for a certain amount of time, then it´s months before the DVD comes out - not counting bootlegs and illegal downloads, of course...

iron man and heartbreak-kid are in completely different leagues. GTA and halo are in completely different leagues also. the lesser of two games against the better of two movies, i don't see that happening.

And for the thread question, it might transfer some OW $ to the back end(giving it more legs) but that's about it. I doubt it'd have more than a $1-2 million impact of lowering the OW.

i did say the lesser of two, not necessarily GTA sucking. but i like them both. but in all honesty, Halo 3 had a MUCH bigger hype than GTA4. but too me, i like em both equally.

but to each his own.

Seriously. Video games and movies are rarely competition for eachother. The number of people that will skip out on seeing Iron Man because they're too busy playing GTA4 at home is so small it's not worth considering.

Yeah, I wasn't all that serious. However I've never really cared for the online player games or the 1st person shooter games. I need a story for me to follow coupled with the freedom to roam independently. That's why I love the GTA series. Plus it's adult and that's always good.t:

To be honest, I'd probably go to town and buy the game on the way to the cinema. I can sort of see the logic though, and it may affect some casual cinema goers.

GTA4 will put a huge dent on IM the videogame, not the movie.

If people can't pry themselves for to hours from thier couch to go outside, then they've got bigger problems than not seeing a movie.

i can say from personal experince that by the time iron man rolls around that friday ill prob be burnt out on gta4 by that time anyway and i think most people will want to take a break and go see iron man

Ok here it is if this movie gets less than 60 million OW domesticaly and does less than 180 million domestically then GTA did hurt iron man bxoffice. I am not sure about overseas boxoffice though.

I think, despite of isolating themselves for hours for what will be sure to be a great game, most people originally interested in the film will come up for air in order to go see it.
